Duties
- Operate refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers to deliver freight efficiently across designated routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Load and unload cargo with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring the safety of yourself and others.
- Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized delivery routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations, maintaining safety at all times.
- Securely load, unload, and verify freight cargo, ensuring proper truck loading and unloading procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in compliance with logistics cargo handling protocols.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure trucks are in excellent condition for safe operation.
Skills
- Proven experience in delivery driving, truck driving, or commercial driving with a focus on route driving.
- Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading techniques, including freight handling for refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools for efficient delivery scheduling.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles safely and confidently.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for commercial trucking.
- Excellent manual handling skills for load & unload operations involving freight or logistics cargo handling.
- Strong driving record with experience in over-the-road (OTR) routes involving long-distance travel.
