Position Overview

Mental Health Clinician – Roseville, CA

About the Role:

We are currently seeking Per Diem licensed and associate clinicians (ASW, AMFT, APCC, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) to join our growing outpatient team at our Roseville location. This role is primarily in-person or hybrid, with work scheduled during regular business hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM). Per Diem clinicians can work up to 19 hours per week, creating a schedule that fits within these hours while meeting a few established requirements, such as attending weekly clinical supervision and facilitating group sessions.

We recognize the vital role clinical supervision plays in supporting professional growth and ensuring high-quality mental health care for the individuals and families we serve. To support your path toward licensure and ongoing development, we offer at least one weekly group supervision session, with the possibility of additional sessions tailored to your needs. All clinicians, regardless of licensure status, are expected to participate in at least one supervision session per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct intakes, screenings, and comprehensive mental health assessments to identify client needs and establish diagnoses in accordance with the DSM-5-TR (or most current edition).
Provide individual, couples/family, and group therapy to clients from diverse backgrounds using culturally competent, trauma-informed practices.
Develop, implement, and maintain a problem list in compliance with Medi-Cal requirements, and create individualized treatment plans as needed to support clients in reaching their therapeutic goals.
Complete utilization reviews, file reviews, progress notes, and other required documentation in a timely manner, in accordance with established timelines and compliance standards.
Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and safety planning as needed.
Maintain compliance with agency, county, state, and Medi-Cal regulations by staying current on clinical best practices, documentation standards, and HIPAA requirements.
Must meet agency productivity standards related to billable service hours and documentation compliance.
Participate in clinical supervision, quality assurance reviews, and other required meetings.
Collaborate with team members and help foster a supportive, dynamic, and positive work environment.
Coordinate with case managers, medical providers, and other service partners to ensure continuity of care as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited university.
Valid professional license recognized by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or active registration as an associate working toward licensure (i.e., AMFT, ASW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC).
One to two (1–2) years of direct practice experience in a human services setting, preferably providing therapeutic services.
Experience working with Medi-Cal clients and knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation.
Familiarity with trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and culturally competent services.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, clinical, and organizational skills.
Bilingual (especially English/Spanish) preferred.
Must pass a DOJ/FBI background check and meet all applicable compliance

Pay Structure:
We offer a competitive pay rate with two different compensation levels based on the nature of the work:

Primary Rate: $35-40/hour

Direct client care (individual, couples/family, group therapy sessions)
Documentation time/Group Prep time
15 minutes per individual, couples/family session
30 minutes for group session
Required clinical supervision
Mandated trainings
Legally mandated paid breaks

Secondary Rate: $28/ Per Hour

Cancelled sessions due to circumstances beyond the clinician’s control, such as client illness or emergencies. (If a cancelled session is rescheduled and completed before the client’s next regularly scheduled appointment, it will be compensated at the primary rate.)
Documentation or prep time for those cancelled sessions

Job Type: Per Diem

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: To ensure strong client–clinician alignment and quality of care, clinicians will begin with a smaller caseload, allowing time to assess fit and build comfort within the program. As clinicians gain experience and confidence, their caseload may gradually increase based on availability and program needs, up to a maximum of 19 hours per week.
