About the Opportunity

An established, high-volume event venue in the Sacramento area is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced banquet environment and enjoys creating exceptional dining experiences for weddings, corporate events, galas, fundraisers, and private celebrations.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience managing high-volume events, developing menus, controlling food costs, and building a positive kitchen culture.

Responsibilities

Lead all culinary operations for events serving approximately 30–600 guests.
Execute plated, buffet, family-style, cocktail reception, and station-style service.
Develop seasonal menus while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation.
Manage food purchasing, vendor relationships, inventory, and food cost controls.
Hire, train, coach, and schedule kitchen staff.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen operation.
Collaborate with the management and event teams to ensure seamless execution.
Assist with budgeting, inventory management, and operational planning.
Maintain high standards of professionalism during high-volume service.

Qualifications

Executive Chef or Sous Chef experience in banquet, catering, hotel, country club, restaurant, or event venue operations.
Experience producing events for 200+ guests.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Experience with purchasing, inventory, food costing, and menu development.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
