Position Summary: Perform semi-skilled and skilled landfill duties, including the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of landfill gas collection infrastructure, leachate and condensate collection infrastructure and pumps, and to operate light and moderately heavy construction equipment.
Classification: Full-time/Non-Exempt
Compensation Range: $33.79-42.22 Hourly
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Locate, inspect, and repair leaks in landfill gas (LFG) and/or landfill leachate/condensate lines.
· Fusion weld various sizes of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.
· Install and repair piping and valves; interpret manuals, schematics, equipment diagrams, and drawings.
· Install landfill leachate and condensate pumps pursuant to the manufacturer’s specifications.
· Maintain and provide troubleshooting of leachate and condensate pumps to ensure optimal collection and conveyance of landfill liquids for sewer disposal.
· Monitor and record daily landfill leachate flows through various on-site data loggers at the Blower Flare Station, pump panels, and online services portal.
· Assist with constructing new LFG extraction wells including welding HDPE well casing.
· Assist with the building of new LFG laterals and headers including observing grade and achieving positive fall drainage.
· Maintain records and other documents as required.
· Assist with LFG gas collection system tuning and Blower Flare Station (BFS) maintenance including periodic greasing of blowers and zone swapping as needed based on gas flow demands.
· Operate light and moderately heavy equipment when needed, including backhoes and forklifts.
· Assist with maintaining on-site inventory of spare parts and equipment and recommend replenishment as needed.
· Assist with performing preventative maintenance and repair on equipment and light vehicles used by WPWMA.
· Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and the public.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Experience: Six months’ experience performing similar duties on a landfill.
Training: High School diploma or GED.
Required License or Certificate: Possession of a valid driver’s license as required by the position and medical clearance required.
Knowledge of:
· Principles and practices of utility maintenance functions, including the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of landfill system infrastructure and equipment.
· Use and purpose of materials, tools, equipment, methods, procedures, and practices used in semi-skilled and skilled-construction and maintenance of landfill systems including LFG and landfill liquids extraction and conveyances.
· Principles and practices of work safety.
· Basic office procedures, methods, computer equipment, and relevant software.
· Basic recordkeeping
