The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) Extra-Help vacancy in the Storekeeper class at the Yolo County Probation Department.
The Position
The Yolo County Probation Department is seeking a candidate with strong inventory management and equipment maintenance skills to support the Alternative Sentencing Program. The Alternative Sentencing Program assigns court-ordered participants to supervised work for local non-profit and government agencies, such as landscape maintenance, litter removal, etc. in lieu of jail time. The program promotes accountability while allowing participants to remain employed, attend school, and maintain family connections. The Storekeeper – Extra Help position will support this program by assisting with the oversight of the equipment and inventory essential to the program’s daily operations.
The Ideal applicant will:
Accurately receive and track shipments, maintain organized storage areas, and manage stock levels for tools, parts, and supplies;
Have experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on small engine and battery-operated equipment, maintain detailed service records, ensure safe handling of hazardous materials, and communicate effectively with vendors; and
Have experience with commercial mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, generators, and similar equipment is highly desirable.
Note: This position will be required to work 7:30 am – 3:30 pm 2-3 days a week, which may include a day on the weekend.
Definition
Under general supervision, to requisition, receive, store and issue a variety of materials, supplies and equipment in a departmental supply unit.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions in this class have the responsibility for the storekeeping activities of a large and varied inventory of a moderate size departmental supply unit or of a specialized supply unit. Positions in this class are also responsible for the supply unit's direction and planning as well as the effective utilization of storeroom space. Positions may serve as a lead worker.

Experience: One year experience involving receiving, storing and issuing supplies or materials and maintaining inventory records.
License
Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical or mental disability may request a reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge of: storeroom methods and procedures used in the receipt, storage and issuance of a wide variety of goods; inventory and stock control recordkeeping; basic arithmetic; correct use of the English language.
Ability to: keep records of receipt and issuance of supplies and equipment; maintain perpetual inventory records; follow verbal and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; exercise physical exertion in the movement of moderately heavy or bulky supplies and equipment.
