Senior Tax Associate

Tax Senior

Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid/On-Site)

Salary: $95,000 - $130,000 base (Commensurate with experience)

Position: Full-Time

Position Overview

Are you a technically sharp tax professional ready to elevate your career? We are seeking a Tax Senior to join our team in Sacramento. This role is designed for a high-performer who excels at the intersection of complex tax compliance and strategic planning.

As a Tax Senior, you will serve as a vital link between our staff and management, ensuring our clients receive high-level accuracy while helping to maximize their tax efficiency. Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Review: Lead the preparation and initial review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for various entities, ensuring 100% compliance with current regulations.
Strategic Support: Assist leadership in implementing tax strategies that optimize our clients' tax positions and identify potential savings.
Technical Research: Perform deep-dive tax research to stay ahead of legislative changes and provide actionable insights on new regulations.
Audit Defense: Help coordinate documentation and provide clear explanations to external auditors and tax authorities during inquiries.
Data Analysis: Analyze financial data to pinpoint tax-saving opportunities and report findings to key stakeholders.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior tax staff, fostering a collaborative and high-standard work environment.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience in tax accounting and compliance, ideally within a public accounting firm (typically 3-5 years).
Credentials: CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly preferred (or active progress toward licensure).
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in professional tax software and the Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel).
Soft Skills: Excellent analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to team members and clients.
