Site Director – Elementary After School Program
Are you a passionate leader committed to helping children thrive? As a Site Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of our Elementary After School Program. Reporting directly to the Agency Leadership Team, you will ensure the successful implementation of high-quality expanded learning programs that support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Working collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, families, and community partners, you will lead a team of dedicated staff while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Position Summary
The Site Director provides leadership for all aspects of the after school program, including staff supervision, student safety, program quality, family engagement, enrollment, and collaboration with school leadership. This position requires exceptional leadership, strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and support a positive team culture.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Lead the daily operations of the after school program, ensuring a safe, organized, and engaging environment.
- Develop and implement program plans that promote academic achievement, enrichment, physical activity, and youth development.
- Continuously assess program quality and implement improvements based on student, family, and school needs.
- Ensure compliance with all agency, SCUSD, ASES, ELO-P, and California Department of Education requirements.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate Youth Specialists and program staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and positive team culture.
- Support staff in implementing effective classroom management and positive behavior strategies.
Student Support
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students.
- Ensure strong classroom management practices are consistently implemented throughout the program.
- Monitor student behavior using positive behavior supports, conflict resolution, restorative practices, and PBIS strategies.
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students receiving educational accommodations.
- Ensure student safety through proper supervision and emergency preparedness procedures.
Family & School Partnerships
- Build positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, families, and community partners.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student participation and program activities.
- Address concerns from staff, students, and families in a timely, professional, and solution-focused manner.
Program Administration
- Recruit new students and promote program enrollment.
- Register new and returning students accurately and maintain enrollment documentation.
- Create and manage student rosters while maintaining required staff-to-student ratios.
- Maintain attendance records, program documentation, and required reports.
- Manage program resources and support budget oversight to maximize student opportunities.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience working in an after school, expanded learning, childcare, educational, or youth development program.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated experience with strong classroom management, behavior intervention, and positive youth development practices.
- Knowledge of Expanded Learning Programs, including ASES and/or ELO-P, is highly desirable.
- Experience implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) or similar behavior management frameworks.
- Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) and students receiving educational accommodations is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, professional work environment.
- Experience collaborating with school staff, families, and community organizations.
- Must successfully complete all required background clearances and employment requirements.
