Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Pediatric Autism Occupational Therapy Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children with autism and other disabilities.
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting, to promote independence.
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations to assess sensory processing, motor skills, cognition, and adaptive behaviors relevant to pediatric populations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, ABA therapists, and case managers—to ensure holistic care and effective intervention strategies.
- Support discharge planning by preparing families and caregivers with strategies for continued progress at home, school, or ABA center settings.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR), including progress notes, treatment updates, and care plans.
- Educate families and caregivers on therapeutic activities, behavioral strategies, and environmental modifications to support ongoing development outside of therapy sessions.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist with specialization or experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sensory integration techniques, and evidence-based practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
- Experience assisting with ADLs, developing treatment plans, and conducting occupational therapy assessments tailored to children’s needs.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, and electronic health records management.
- Prior experience working within school settings or early intervention programs is highly desirable.
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
