Bookkeeper – Accounting Firm
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, staying organized, and helping businesses maintain accurate financial records.
This is an entry-level position, and we are willing to train the right person. Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is helpful but not required. We place a high value on accuracy, dependability, organization, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bookkeeping for multiple business clients
- Record and properly categorize financial transactions
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Reconcile loan and other balance sheet accounts as needed
- Review client books for accuracy and identify discrepancies or missing information
- Perform QuickBooks cleanup and assist with correcting bookkeeping issues
- Prepare and file sales tax returns for clients
- Maintain accurate and organized client financial records
- Communicate with clients to obtain missing documents or clarify transactions
- Assist with year-end bookkeeping and preparation of client files for tax return preparation
- Maintain organized supporting documentation and records
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping deadlines
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial and personal information
- Assist with other accounting-related tasks as needed
- During tax season, assist with answering incoming phone calls and providing general client support as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Accounting, bookkeeping, or business coursework is a plus
- QuickBooks experience is helpful but not required
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working with computers and learning new software
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients, assignments, and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
- Willingness to ask questions, learn new skills, and accept feedback
- Dependable with regular and reliable attendance

Because we work with multiple clients and deadlines, organization and attention to detail are extremely important. The ideal candidate is comfortable switching between different clients and assignments while keeping their work organized and accurate.
We also want someone who is comfortable asking questions when they are unsure rather than guessing. Accuracy, professionalism, client service, and confidentiality are important parts of working in an accounting firm.
Schedule & Tax Season Requirements
Our workload varies throughout the year, with our busiest period occurring during tax season.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
- Mandatory overtime during tax season is required as a condition of this position
- During tax season, team members are expected to assist with phones and general client needs when necessary
- Must be able to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment and adjust priorities during peak periods

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
