Job Overview
Go Logistics is a privately held company under the Beacon Fisheries Group that delivers seafood to our southeastern US customers. We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and execution-oriented General Manager (GM) to lead day-to-day business operations, drive scalable growth, and ensure operational excellence.
Operating from our headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, the General Manager will hold full P&L ownership and serve as the operational bridge between executive vision and ground-level execution. This leader will translate the overarching strategies established by the CEO and COO into actionable business plans, high-performing organizational structures, and measurable financial outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in freight forwarding, cold-chain/temperature-controlled transport, dedicated lane management, and carrier/customer relationship development.
Core Responsibilities & Detailed Explanations
1. P&L Management & Financial Stewardship
- Full Financial Accountability: Take complete ownership of the Go Logistics P&L statement, managing gross revenue, net operating income, margins, and operational overhead.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with executive leadership to establish quarterly and annual revenue targets, operating budgets, and capital allocation plans.
- Margin Optimization & Cost Control: Continuously evaluate line-haul costs, lane profitability, deadhead miles, carrier rates, and fuel surcharges to protect and expand operating margins.
- KPI & Financial Reporting: Maintain real-time visibility into weekly yield per lane/load, cost-per-mile, on-time performance (OTP), DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and customer retention. Deliver structured reporting to the COO and CEO.
2. Strategic Execution & Vision Alignment
- Operationalizing Executive Vision: Deconstruct the long-term vision set by the CEO/COO into tactical roadmaps, quarterly OKRs (Objectives & Key Results), and specific departmental milestones.
- Lane & Service Optimization: Spearhead operational execution across existing and new dedicated regional corridors (e.g., Southeastern freight lanes, coastal and temperature-sensitive distribution routes).
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Ensure seamless coordination across dispatch, carrier procurement, customer service, billing, and fleet/brokerage partners.
3. Business Development, Customer Relations & Market Growth
- Customer Acquisition & Retention: Partner with the commercial sales team to target, close, and onboard high-volume shipper accounts (retail, perishable goods, manufacturing, and regional freight).
- Executive Customer Visits: Travel on-site to prospect locations and existing client hubs to negotiate enterprise-level MSAs, conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and solidify high-trust relationships.
- Network & Brokerage Expansion: Expand broker-carrier relationships and dedicated capacity to handle surging freight volumes with zero compromise on transit integrity or delivery windows.
4. Organizational Structure, Team Leadership & Culture
- Team Structuring & Talent Management: Design and maintain a lean, high-output organizational hierarchy. Recruit, mentor, and evaluate dispatchers, logistics coordinators, account managers, and compliance staff.
- Accountability Frameworks: Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), KPI scorecards, and performance metrics across the operations floor.
- In-Office Leadership: Drive an active, communicative, and collaborative in-office culture in Jacksonville. Foster rapid problem-solving during load exceptions, weather disruptions, or mechanical delays.
5. Regulatory Compliance, Safety & Risk Mitigation
- DOT & FMCSA Compliance: Ensure rigorous adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), safety ratings, and carrier insurance thresholds.
- Cargo Security & Cold-Chain Integrity: Enforce strict temperature monitoring, equipment inspection protocols, and chain-of-custody tracking for all sensitive and high-value cargo.
- Contractual & Claims Governance: Oversee freight claim resolution, liability management, and carrier vetting standards.
