Victim Advocate – 36 hours (1 Opening) & 40 hours (2 openings) - $20.00 a hour.
The Outreach Victim Advocate works directly with Outreach participants and their families’ seeking services for domestic violence, sexual violence and/or human trafficking. The Outreach Victim Advocate provides survivor centered advocacy and supports those seeking services by offering crisis intervention counseling, safety planning and emotional support while connecting them to agency and other community resources such as emergency shelter, legal advocacy, individual and group counseling, and financial assistance. The Outreach Victim Advocate maintains confidential records and empowers survivors to make informed choices at their own pace using a trauma informed culturally responsive approach. The Outreach Victim Advocate develops relationships with community service providers to recommend appropriate services to survivors. Coordinates culturally inclusive outreach to marginalized populations by identifying and developing community partnerships and collaborations for these populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDSinclude the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
§ 50% Assist Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Survivors by providing advocacy services. Provide safety planning with survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their family members and/or friends. Participate in intake, lethality assessment, and provide referrals based upon identified needs. Referrals may include but are not limited to counseling, support groups, financial assistance, medical, housing, legal, job placements, education, immigration, victim crime compensation, and court advocacy. Conduct ongoing service management as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
§ 25% Provide direct crisis counseling services for survivors at outreach/shelter/jail groups.
§ 5% Assist with Victim Crime Compensation forms and other referrals for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Conduct crisis intervention and work closely with other community agencies on providing information, referral, and advocacy.
§ 10% Maintain participant files with accurate, complete, relevant information required by funding and regulatory sources including the timely completion of entering data into Osnium.
§ 1% Complete 30 hours of initial domestic and sexual violence training to become registered for privilege communication. Attend and document 16 hours of training each fiscal year in domestic, child abuse, elder abuse, and other issues that are pertinent to providing quality service to victims of which 8 of the hours each fiscal year will be on sexual violence.
§ 4%Participate in community awareness activities designed to identify survivors and provide or refer them to services are an essential component of a comprehensive service delivery system
§ 5% Participate in conference calls, webinars, and meetings as required.
§ Continuously uphold and support the agencies survivor-focused, empowerment-based philosophy by providing equal opportunity for individual choice and by making educational information available to all program participants.
§ Assuming other tasks as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and/or Experience
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault is preferred. Two years of experience in legal advocacy, social work and/or a working knowledge of the criminal and judicial system is preferred.
Continuing Education
Comply with mandatory annual domestic and sexual violence training as required by the Department of Children and Families Services and/or other funding sources.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from community groups and staff. Bilingual is helpful (Spanish is preferred as the bilingual language).
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills required (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

A valid Florida Driver’s License is preferred
