Full Job Description

Facilities and Operations Manager

Employment Status: Part-Time, Year-Round (52 Weeks)

Schedule: Approximately 25-30 hours/week. Flexible schedule required, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Facilities and Operations Manager to lead the maintenance and facilities management of our campus. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for ensuring our buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well maintained to support a positive environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred
Broad knowledge of building maintenance trades: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems
Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, or facilities management preferred
Valid driver's license

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance & Operations

Oversee day-to-day operations of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment
Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program
Perform general repairs such as equipment, carpentry, roofing, insulation, and masonry
Monitor and maintain interior and exterior building conditions, including cleanliness and structural integrity Conduct regular facility inspections and respond promptly to maintenance requests
Oversee interior/exterior building work for contracted services Grounds & Equipment Management
Manage groundskeeping, landscaping, and seasonal upkeep contracts
Operate and maintain facility-related machinery and tools
Coordinate materials handling, supply movement, and event setups as needed Safety & Compliance
Ensure all facilities meet federal, state, and local safety codes and regulations
Implement and enforce OSHA/PERRP safety standards and best practices
Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs Administrative Duties
Recommend and manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools
Oversee work of vendors and contractors performing facility-related services
Maintain up-to-date documentation and complete required reports and logs
Conduct annual inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment Key Skills & Abilities
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to read and understand safety labels, maintenance instructions, and technical documentation
Effective communication skills—both verbal and written
Ability to operate and maintain power-driven equipment and machinery
Physically capable of performing a variety of maintenance tasks
Ability to work independently and lead by example
Training in chemical safety and hazard communication preferred
Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring for electrical work
