Full Job Description

Position Summary

The College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University Strategic Communication Studies Department anticipates need for adjunct professor/instructors in both the near and long term. We may have need in the areas of public speaking, intercultural communication, health communication, introduction to human communication, media literacy, media criticism, strategic communication campaigns, social media marketing, media effects and/or various rhetorical studies courses.

This announcement serves as an ongoing call for applications to our adjunct faculty pool, with candidate evaluations typically conducted each semester according to departmental needs.

All classes are taught fully in person at the Saint John’s University campus. Salary per 4-credit undergraduate course is $5675.

College/University Highlights

The College of Saint Benedict (CSB), a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University (SJU), a liberal arts college for men, are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota, surrounded by more than 3,000 acres of pristine forests, prairies, and lakes. The campuses are minutes away from St. Cloud, an increasingly diverse regional center with a population of over 100,000, and 70 miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Some CSB/SJU faculty and staff choose to reside locally, while others commute from the Twin Cities. The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Masters’s degree in Communication or related field
Graduate coursework in the area one will teach or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience and evidence of effective teaching
Teaching experience in the area one will teach
