Staff Accountant Position at Miller, Welle, Heiser & Co., Ltd

Miller, Welle, Heiser & Co., Ltd (MWH) is a mid-size, growth-minded firm focused on results through collaboration between staff, partners and clients located in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. We offer our staff challenging work and plenty of opportunity for growth and development.

Job Description:

Staff Accountants primarily act as a Tax Preparer. Preparing tax returns with information obtained from clients. You will also perform duties such as assisting with annual financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations along with monthly/quarterly/annual bookkeeping services. Staff Accountants assist Seniors, Managers and Partners in completing client projects and most work is performed with direction and supervision.

Some of the essential job functions include:

Tax Preparer of individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns of varying complexity
Prepare sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and year-end tax documents for clients
Perform various accounting tasks including bookkeeping and payroll
Work directly with Managers and Partners to determine and meet all client’s tax and accounting needs

Who We Are Looking For (Ideal Candidate):

Tech savvy – familiar with Excel, Adobe, QuickBooks, digital workload management, and tax preparation software – and comfortable learning new software programs
Comfortable with balancing multiple projects at a time, and eager to learn new tasks and take on new projects
Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments
Communication skills to effectively work with clients and colleagues
Positive attitude and open to feedback necessary for continued growth and development in the firm
Basic to intermediate level of knowledge about tax preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping
1-5 years of experience as a tax preparer and in accounting is preferable
CPA or Enrolled Agent certification or working towards obtaining certification
