About Us

Coastal Academic provides structured SAT, ACT, AP, and academic tutoring for students in the Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, and St. Johns County area. We combine personalized instruction, high-quality materials, and clear parent communication to help students build skills, confidence, and academic momentum.

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced, dependable tutors to provide tutoring services with Coastal Academic. Tutors will work with students one-on-one and in small groups, supporting academic growth from elementary school foundational skills through advanced high school coursework and standardized test preparation.

We are especially interested in tutors with strength in one or more of the following areas: SAT/ACT prep, high school math, AP coursework, science, reading/writing, elementary foundations, or study skills. Tutors are matched with students based on subject expertise. Applicants do not need to teach every subject or grade level listed.

No guaranteed minimum hours. Student assignments vary based on demand, subject fit, availability, and performance.

This opportunity requires in-person tutoring at a Coastal Academic learning center or approved tutoring location in the Ponte Vedra Beach / Nocatee area.

Contractor Services May Include

Provide tutoring services for students in assigned subject areas and grade levels
Support SAT, ACT, AP, math, reading, writing, science, or study skills based on tutor expertise
Use professional judgment to adapt instruction to student needs
Use Coastal Academic’s recommended materials, tools, and student information when applicable
Provide brief session notes or progress updates when requested
Maintain a professional, structured, and encouraging learning environment

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 2 years of teaching, tutoring, classroom, or student-instruction experience preferred; strong candidates with deep subject expertise may also be considered.
Prior teaching, tutoring, coaching, or student-instruction experience
Ability to provide in-person tutoring in the Ponte Vedra Beach / Nocatee area
Professional communication, punctuality, dependability, sound judgment, and ability to keep students engaged and on task
Ability to work with students in a supportive, structured manner
Willingness to complete onboarding requirements, including background check, W-9, and contractor agreement

Requested Availability

Tutors provide their availability and may accept or decline student opportunities based on schedule, subject fit, and availability. Please indicate availability for in-person tutoring:

Mornings
Afternoons
Evenings
Weekends
Or any combination of the above

Highest demand is typically after school, evenings, and weekends. Daytime availability may be helpful for summer, homeschool, and special programs.

Preferred Qualifications

SAT, ACT, or AP tutoring experience
Strong math, science, reading, writing, or test prep background
Experience with high-achieving, college-bound students
Experience supporting students who need structure, confidence, or skill remediation
Ability to teach more than one subject or grade band
Current or former classroom teaching experience
