HELP WANTED – CARMAN – LABORER/ MECHANICAL HELPER
Railcar/Locomotive repair company looking to hire a reliable carman laborer/mechanical helper. Applicant must be detail oriented, self-driven, and able to work with little supervision in all weather conditions. Mechanical and welding experience a plus. Must have valid Driver’s License with proficiency to operate a manual transmission.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Carman Laborer/Mechanical Helper is responsible for all aspects and projects pertaining to the maintenance and repair of freight cars.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Inspect, repair, fabricate, weld, assemble, maintain, dismantle, and perform projects relating to the repair of all types of freight cars.
- Know and understand the air brake system of railcars and provide appropriate wrecking services of cars or locomotives.
- Safe operation of equipment such as ATV, track mobiles, and cranes was necessary to repair freight cars of all types.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be reliable.
- Must be safety conscious and capable of cultivating work practices that will contribute to the achievement of company safety goals
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
- Must demonstrate ability to relate well with supervisors, peers and subordinates
- Ability to safely operate fork lift, ATV, overhead joist, turntable, drop tables, and track mobiles
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
