Full Job Description

Director of Education

The Director of Education provides leadership, guidance, and support to the school’s teaching team while helping create an engaging, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for every child. This position plays a key role in strengthening classroom practices, supporting educators, and ensuring that our educational program reflects current knowledge and best practices in early childhood development.

We are looking for an education leader who enjoys working alongside teachers, building relationships, developing people, and creating a strong culture of learning and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the school’s educational program.
Work closely with the Leadership Team to establish effective onboarding and training for new teachers.
Support teachers through regular classroom visits, observations, coaching, and constructive feedback.
Help educators strengthen their classroom practices and develop confidence in their professional decision-making.
Monitor curriculum implementation throughout the school and help ensure consistency from classroom to classroom.
Identify opportunities to improve the educational experience for children and provide recommendations to school leadership.
Encourage teachers to collaborate, share ideas, and take ownership of their professional growth.
Build a positive team culture centered on communication, accountability, support, and continuous learning.

Curriculum & Educational Leadership

The Director of Education is responsible for helping maintain a strong, developmentally appropriate educational program throughout the school. This includes evaluating how curriculum and teaching strategies are being used in the classroom and working with educators to make adjustments when needed.

You will:

Guide teachers in effective curriculum planning and implementation.
Review classroom practices and assess how well educational goals are being achieved.
Provide individualized coaching and professional support to teachers.
Help identify training needs and develop opportunities for staff development.
Keep current with research, emerging practices, and trends in early childhood education.
Ensure educational practices remain consistent with applicable state standards and requirements.
Partner with teachers and school leadership to establish educational goals and priorities.

Family & Community Relationships

Strong partnerships with families are an important part of a successful early childhood program. The Director of Education will help ensure families feel informed, respected, and confident in the educational experience their children receive.

This position will:

Build positive relationships with families and respond thoughtfully to educational concerns or questions.
Work with teachers to understand and support the individual needs of children.
Communicate effectively with families regarding children's learning and development.
Contribute to a welcoming school community where children, families, and staff feel valued.

What We’re Looking For

Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, child development, or a related field.
At least two years of experience working with curriculum development, curriculum implementation, teacher coaching, or educational programming in an early childhood setting.
Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience is preferred.
Familiarity with state regulations, licensing requirements, and standards governing early childhood programs.
Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop trusting and productive relationships with teachers, families, and leadership.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A collaborative leadership style and a genuine interest in helping educators grow.
