Your role with us
Salem Health is seeking a senior insurance AR specialist to support our revenue cycle team. In this role, you will leverage advanced billing and payer knowledge to resolve complex claims and denials, analyze reimbursement variances, and drive timely, accurate reimbursement. You'll also serve as a subject matter expert and escalation resource, supporting team members, training new staff, and collaborating with leadership to improve processes. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values expertise, accuracy, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact behind the scenes of patient care.
What you'll do
- Resolve complex and high-dollar claim errors prior to submission to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Investigate and work complex denials, escalating and resolving issues efficiently.
- Analyze payment variances and research payer contracts to ensure expected reimbursement.
- Serve as a resource and escalation point for team members within your financial class.
- Partner with leadership to identify trends, root causes, and process improvements to reduce AR.
- Communicate directly with insurance payers to resolve claims and payment discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain training plans; support onboarding and development of new team members.
- Act as a subject matter expert for projects and initiatives impacting your functional area.
- Maintain knowledge of federal/state regulations, payer requirements, and billing compliance.
- Support a collaborative, high-functioning team environment.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical or professional billing.
Additional information
- Experience with EPIC Resolute is preferred.
- A CRCR or similar certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of insurance payers, EOBs, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and revenue cycle processes.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computers, typing, and 10-key functions.
- Experience training, mentoring, or supporting team members.
