Warehouse Technician – Field Services Equipment & Inventory

Location: Troutville, Virginia (On-site)
Department: Field Services / Operations

Position Summary

Virginia Transformer is seeking a highly organized and dependable Warehouse Technician to support our Field Services operations at the Troutville facility.

This role is responsible for managing Field Services (FS) test equipment, maintaining accurate inventory of service tools and materials, coordinating shipping and receiving activities, and supporting transformer processing equipment readiness. The ideal candidate will ensure equipment and materials are properly maintained, tracked, and prepared for deployment to support field service teams.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring technicians in the field have the tools and equipment needed to safely and effectively support customers.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Services Equipment Oversight

· Maintain accountability and organization of Field Services test equipment and tools.

· Inspect and track the condition of equipment used for transformer testing and service operations.

· Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and readiness of testing equipment.

· Ensure equipment is prepared and staged for upcoming field service projects.

Inventory Management

· Maintain accurate inventory records for Field Services tools, equipment, spare parts, and consumables.

· Track equipment usage and ensure proper return and storage after field assignments.

· Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.

· Support inventory audits and cycle counts.

Shipping & Receiving

· Manage shipping and receiving of Field Services equipment and materials.

· Coordinate logistics for equipment deployment to field service teams and customer sites.

· Receive incoming materials, inspect shipments, and ensure proper documentation and storage.

· Prepare and package equipment for shipment while ensuring compliance with shipping procedures.

Transformer Processing Equipment Support

· Support oversight and maintenance of transformer processing and service equipment used by Field Services teams.

· Assist with preparation and staging of equipment used for transformer oil processing and field maintenance activities.

· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe storage of equipment within the warehouse.

Warehouse Organization & Safety

· Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse environment.

· Follow all safety procedures for material handling and equipment operation.

· Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are stored properly and accessible when needed.

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· 2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, equipment management, or industrial environments.

· Experience with shipping, receiving, and inventory management.

· Ability to lift and move equipment and materials safely.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience supporting field service operations or industrial service teams.

· Familiarity with electrical testing equipment or transformer service tools.

· Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment.

· Experience with inventory management or ERP systems.
