Artists Ink is a community-based arts organization dedicated to building art pathways that empower residents to ignite the stories of our community. Through arts education, cultural programming, mentorship, public events, and creative opportunities, we work alongside youth, families, artists, and community partners to strengthen creative expression and foster meaningful connections.
Position Overview
The TXO Lead Mentor plays a pivotal role at Artists Ink, helping shape the future of young artists throughout the community. This position is responsible for youth performance development, curriculum development, directing student productions, managing budgets, and fostering community engagement. We are seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team and help students realize their artistic potential while lifting up youth voices and community stories.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports TXO Director in teaching Artists Ink/ TXO's approach to creating theater as a
- tool for personal and social change.
- Support the Implementation of curriculum and activities that meet professional level performing arts standards while empowering students to be innovative and create
- with what they have.
- Support with in the development and implementation of lesson plans.
- Communicate with the Program Coordinator to ensure all materials and other
- resources are secured.
- Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior in accordance
- with Artists Ink protocols.
- Support the Identification of projects or productions that are reflective of the
- students and their community.
- Assistant in student productions and projects throughout the year.
- Identify and coordinate guest artists for workshops, camps, and project related needs.
- Act as lead for design and production elements when alternative artists are not identified.
- Supervise production elements such as lights, sound, and set. Create or submit requisition for purchase for costumes, sets, props.
- Uphold artistic integrity.
- Adherence to Artists Ink approach to teaching, collaborating, and creating.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a wide range in theatre experience (onstage, backstage, design and more)
- Will equip students with professional theater etiquette and vocabulary
- Will teach the inner working of theater from concept to production
- Lift up professional pathways in theater off and on stage
- Empower youth and their families recognize their collective power and take ownership of our narrative inspiring future generations.
- Provide youth with the support to address the issues most important to them
- and are give them a platform to voice their concerns and find solutions.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, professionalism, and accountability.
- Can effectively supervise and support staff across multiple sites and programs.
- Excels at communication and relationship-building with families, students,
- partners, and colleagues.
- Has strong organizational and administrative skills, including budgeting,
- scheduling, and reporting.
- Can balance day-to-day program operations while keeping long-term goals in focus.
- Is committed to fostering inclusive, equitable, and impactful arts experiences.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing program needs.
Expected hours per week: 10 to 20
Compensation: Begins at $30 an hour
