Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care to join our dynamic healthcare team across California. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional acute care in diverse hospital settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, community hospitals, and urgent care facilities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive ER experience, critical care expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of advanced nursing procedures. This position is perfect for motivated professionals eager to deliver top-tier patient care while exploring different healthcare environments across the state.

Key responsibilities include delivering immediate emergency interventions, performing comprehensive patient assessments, managing complex medical conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner, administer medications including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, and execute specialized procedures like intubation, suturing, catheterization, and ventilator management. Your expertise in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, pediatric emergencies, and geriatrics will be essential in providing comprehensive emergency services.

This role emphasizes maintaining high standards of patient safety, adhering to HIPAA regulations, practicing aseptic techniques, and ensuring accurate medical documentation. Travel RN ER California offers an exciting opportunity to expand your clinical skills while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives across diverse communities.

Duties

Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide immediate life-saving interventions in high-pressure environments.
Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physiological evaluations, and medical history reviews.
Administer medications via IV infusion or injection with precision while monitoring for adverse reactions.
Perform advanced procedures such as suturing wounds, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), tube feeding management, and airway management.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Manage trauma cases within Level I or Level II trauma centers by applying trauma medicine protocols.
Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed during all procedures.
Provide specialized care for populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Support discharge planning by coordinating post-emergency care needs such as hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care arrangements.

Requirements

Valid California RN license with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
Minimum of two years of ER experience in a hospital setting; experience working within trauma centers highly desirable.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, ICD coding/diagnosis documentation (ICD-9/10), and acute pain management.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to emergency medicine.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients.
Ability to adapt quickly to new environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
Excellent communication skills coupled with a team-oriented approach to healthcare delivery.
