Position Summary
The Roofing Sales Consultant is an outside sales position spending more than 50% outside the office responsible for developing new business, conducting in-person customer appointments, performing roof inspections, preparing estimates, presenting roofing solutions, and closing residential and commercial roofing sales. This position customarily and regularly performs its primary sales duties away from the Company's offices while building lasting customer relationships and delivering exceptional service. Time spent in the office is incidental to supporting outside sales activities, including customer follow-up, proposal preparation, sales meetings, training, and other administrative responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate residential and commercial sales opportunities through company-provided leads, referrals, networking, community engagement, and self-generated leads.
- Conduct customer consultations, site visits, inspections, and measurements as needed to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Educate customers on Company products, services, warranties, financing options, and available solutions.
- Prepare and present accurate estimates, proposals, contracts, and other sales documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries, addressing concerns professionally, and maintaining consistent follow-up throughout the sales process.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships from initial contact through closing and project completion.
- Manage appointments, leads, and sales activities effectively and maintain accurate records in Company systems.
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance expectations.
- Ensure contracts, project scopes, customer expectations, and other sold project details are complete and accurately communicated to internal teams.
- Coordinate with production, office staff, and other departments to ensure a smooth project handoff and positive customer experience.
- Maintain accurate and timely sales reports, including leads, appointments, sales activity, and closed projects.
- Participate in required sales meetings, training, trade shows, and continuing education to maintain knowledge of Company products, services, and sales practices.
- Represent the Company professionally and ethically in all customer and business interactions.
- Follow all Company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college education or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
- Previous sales experience preferred; construction, roofing, home improvement, or related industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, sales, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Ability to build customer relationships, identify needs, present solutions, and close sales.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prepare accurate proposals, contracts, and sales documentation.
- Ability to learn and explain Company products, services, warranties, financing options, and project requirements.
- Ability to use Company CRM, sales, and electronic reporting systems.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and internal departments.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to customer locations and jobsites as required.
Compensation
· Estimated annual earnings for this commission-based position generally range from $150,000 to $220,000, depending on individual sales performance and experience.
· This position is primarily commission-based. Compensation consists of commissions earned on qualified sales and may include incentive and bonus opportunities in accordance with the Company's written Sales Commission Agreement. Commission eligibility, rates, qualification requirements, payment terms, and incentive programs are governed exclusively by the applicable Sales Commission Agreement.
New Hire Training Program
· Eligible new hires participate in a 90-day training program designed to support successful onboarding and development.
· During the training period of 3 months, employees receive a minimum guaranteed training compensation of $6,667.00 per month paid semi-monthly. If commissions earned during the training period exceed the guaranteed monthly minimum, the employee will receive the additional earned commission in accordance with the terms of the Sales Commission Agreement.
· Following the training period, compensation transitions to the Company's standard commission pay based on individual sales and sales Commission Agreement.
· Employment with Scudder Roofing is at will. Participation in the training program or eligibility for commission compensation does not create a contract of employment or guarantee employment for any specific period of time.
