Overview
This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills while supporting the kitchen’s daily operations. As a Prep Cook, you will play a key part in ensuring that food preparation is efficient, safe, and meets our high standards for taste and presentation. Duties

Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipe specifications.
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling dishes to ensure timely service.
Follow food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
Support the kitchen team in cooking and plating dishes during busy service hours.
Maintain organized workstations, ensuring all tools and ingredients are stocked and ready for use.

Qualifications

Experience working in food service, restaurant, or food industry environments demonstrating strong kitchen skills.
Current food safety certificate preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques.
Proficiency in knife skills, meal preparation, and basic cooking methods.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The majority of the work is performed indoors, with potential exposure to safety hazards typical of a gas station. The employee must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods of time
Stoop, kneel and crouch as needed
Lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds

SCHEDULE

Up to 30 hours a week, Monday – Friday with an on-call rotation on Saturdays
Afternoon shift (12 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require

Requisitos

Experiencia trabajando en servicios de alimentos, restaurantes o en la industria alimentaria, demostrando sólidas habilidades de cocina.
Se prefiere contar con un certificado vigente de seguridad alimentaria.
Conocimiento de las normas de seguridad alimentaria y de las técnicas adecuadas de manipulación de alimentos.
Dominio del uso de cuchillos, preparación de alimentos y métodos básicos de cocina.
Capacidad para trabajar de manera eficiente bajo presión, manteniendo atención al detalle.
Excelente actitud de trabajo en equipo y habilidades de comunicación para colaborar eficazmente con el personal de cocina.

ENTORNO DE TRABAJO / EXIGENCIAS FÍSICAS
La mayor parte del trabajo se realiza en interiores, con posible exposición a riesgos de seguridad típicos de una estación de servicio. El empleado debe ser capaz de:

Permanecer de pie y caminar durante períodos prolongados.
Agacharse, arrodillarse y ponerse en cuclillas cuando sea necesario.
Levantar y mover objetos de hasta 25 libras.

HORARIO

Hasta 30 horas por semana, de lunes a viernes, con rotación los sábados.
Turno de la tarde (12:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m.).
Debe tener disponibilidad para trabajar por las noches, fines de semana y días festivos, según las necesidades del negocio.
