Job Description
Job Title: Grants Manager
Hours of Work: 40 Hours
Salary Range: $65,000 – $70,000 Annual
Reports to: Development Director
Our Neighbors’ Table’s success draws from its focus on alleviating food insecurity as its sole mission, its attention to the quality of its services, and effective engagement of the community in carrying out its programs. The Resource Development Department is charged with ensuring adequate revenue and human capital to execute Our Neighbors’ Table’s mission and programs.
Annual grant revenue accounts for roughly 25% of our cash operating budget. The Grants Manager is responsible for securing necessary funds from private and public foundations, government agencies, and corporate foundations to ensure ONT’s revenue streams keep pace with the growing demand for its services. The Grants Manager will be responsible for growing revenue from grants and government contracts through successful prospect identification, cultivation, proposal writing, and stewardship.
The Grants Manager must have excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in grant writing is required.
While an integral part of the Development team, this individual must be self-motivated, goal-driven, and able to work with a high degree of independence. The Grants Manager must be comfortable and confident in dealing with agency leadership, corporate and foundation executives, and high-capacity donors.
Essential Responsibilities
● Research foundation and government funding sources appropriate to ONT’s mission and goals.
● Submit quality grant proposals throughout the year to meet annual grant funding goals.
● Develop professional relationships with current and prospective grant partners to effectively steward their giving. Manage the timely reporting of progress and evaluation of all grant-funded programs.
● Maintain an annual grants calendar encompassing proposal and reporting deadlines and donor recognition and cultivation strategies.
● Stay abreast of programmatic goals and objectives to accurately depict ONT’s mission and program in proposals. Develop public, private, and government funding proposals in accordance with priorities and ensure application packages are complete and compliant with funder guidelines.
● Develop core messaging and application materials that can be easily replicated and tailored to multiple funders.
● Must be available for occasional weekend and night gatherings.
● Ability and availability to travel occasionally, generally within state.
Qualifications:
● Three-five years’ experience managing and writing grants
● Experience with securing and managing diverse grant portfolios in the $500k -$1m range
● Proficiency with one or more CRMs
● Proficiency with Google Drive and other common office software
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Demonstrated success in securing foundation funding in the nonprofit sector
● Highly organized and self-directed with strong time management skills and proven record of meeting deadlines
● Self-motivated, goal-driven, and able to work with a high degree of independence. The Grants Manager must be comfortable and confident in dealing with agency leadership, corporate and foundation executives
● Demonstrated creativity and ability to think in unexpectedly productive ways
Physical Requirements
● Reliable ability to work full-time on-site
● Reliable transportation
● Ability to sit for long periods of time
● Ability to focus attention on tasks and refocus despite interruptions
● Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs would be helpful
