Fire Marshal

As a Fire Marshal in the City of Salisbury, you can make a difference! The Fire Department is seeking motivated
candidates who will perform fire safety building inspections, implementing, presenting fire & life safety programs
and services, and conducting fire investigations. Main duties include but are not limited to coordinating and
assisting with smoke detector and carbon monoxide installations; conducting fire safety inspections per NC Fire
Code, foster home, daycare, and new business inspections; assisting businesses with fire emergency evacuation
planning; developing working relationships with local schools, businesses and industries; and coordinating Fire
Prevention Week activities and open house for the community. Fire prevention duties include fire inspection of

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in fire sciences, or a related field, and extensive experience in
firefighting and fire inspection, including substantial supervisory and project management experience, or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of Firefighter Level I and II
- Possession of Fire Inspector Standard Level III
- Possession of Fire Safety Educator Level III
- Possession of Fire Officer Level II
- Possession of Fire and Arson Investigator Certification
- Possession of Fire Instructor Level II
- Possession of a valid class B North Carolina driver’s license.
- Possession of required NIMS certifications.
- Possession of Youth Fire Setter Intervention Specialist Certification
- Must meet and maintain all minimum state and local training and education requirements
Closing Date: August 27, 2026
Hiring Range: $33.25 - $47.55 (Depending on experience)
$2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after successful completion of probationary period.
