Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Second Shift Tool Setter to join our injection molding team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting, adjusting, and maintaining molds within our injection molding machines to ensure efficient production startups and consistent part quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery and contribute to the creation of high-quality plastic products. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement in our manufacturing operations while adhering to safety standards and quality specifications.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3pm-11:30pm (you may be asked to come in before start of shift and stay after end of shift occasionally.)

Duties

Set and secure molds inside injection molding machines safely and accurately
Perform mold changes and changeovers in a timely manner to minimize downtime
Adjust machine parameters — including temperature, pressure, cycle time, and shot size — to achieve optimal process conditions
Conduct first article inspections to verify part quality meets specifications before releasing to full production
Troubleshoot and resolve mold and process issues including flashing, short shots, sink marks, warping, and other common defects
Perform routine mold maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspection; escalate repair needs as appropriate
Communicate clearly with the shift supervisor and quality team regarding production status, issues, and changeover progress
Follow all safety protocols when working with overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and heavy tooling
Maintain accurate records of mold settings, cycle times, and process parameters
Support continuous improvement efforts related to setup time reduction and process consistency

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge related to plastics blow molding, injection molding, extrusion processes, and fabrication techniques
Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for machine operation control
Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively for assembly, fabrication, and adjustments
Knowledge of materials handling procedures including forklift operation within a warehouse environment
Familiarity with CNC lathe operations and CNC programming basics is a plus
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement in production processes
Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting machine issues

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience setting molds in injection molding machines
Strong working knowledge of injection molding machine operation and process parameters
Ability to safely use overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment to install and remove molds
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret mold prints, setup sheets, and work orders
Solid troubleshooting skills for both mold and process-related defects
Ability to work independently and manage multiple changeovers in a fast-paced environment
Must be comfortable working on feet for the duration of the shift in a manufacturing environment
