Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth across the United States by developing and managing manufacturer’s representatives, influencing consulting engineers, generating specifications, managing key accounts, and converting identified opportunities into bookings while increasing market share in the core segments.

This position reports to the Vice President of Sales and is based in Salt Lake City, UT. Exceptional candidates may work remotely after an initial 2–3 month onboarding period in Salt Lake City, with temporary room and board provided.

Mixtec North America is a manufacturer of engineered mixing and agitation equipment serving primarily water treatment, wastewater treatment, minerals processing, and general industrial markets. Our products are custom‑designed for each project and sold primarily through a nationwide network of manufacturer’s representatives. We maintain a strong engineering foundation, continuously developing advanced mixing application tools and providing dedicated applications engineering support for detailed design and costing.

Key Responsibilities

Representative Development & Management (30%)

Recruit, evaluate, and onboard rep agencies.
Train reps on Mixtec products, applications, and selling strategies.
Conduct remote and in‑person rep training sessions.
Motivate reps to prioritize Mixtec within their product portfolio.
Identify and correct market coverage gaps.
Attend local and national trade shows with reps.
Identify which trade shows are a constant need, which shows are tied to key project and which shows that can be attended rarely.
Maintain annual rep performance reviews and territory plans.

Consulting Engineer Engagement (20%)

Call on consulting engineers to promote Mixtec solutions.
Deliver lunch‑and‑learns and technical presentations.
Influence specifications and secure Mixtec product inclusion.
Write and refine specification language.
Position unique features and competitive advantages.

Municipalities, End Users & EPC Contractors (20%)

Visit municipalities, utilities, industrial plants, and mining operations.
Identify process challenges and align Mixtec solutions.
Support operators with training as needed.
Build long‑term relationships with major utilities, EPCs, and mining companies.

Forecasting, CRM & Pipeline Management (10%)

Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasting, and opportunity tracking.
Coordinate with inside sales and applications engineering to ensure timely bid responses.
Provide monthly and quarterly sales reporting.

Internal Coordination and Quoting (20%)

Work closely with applications engineers and inside sales.
Interpret project specifications and guide inside sales toward appropriate designs.
Ensure proper information is provided for design and costing.
Weed out requests that are not Mixtec offerings; Submersibles, floating mixers, water tank storage mixers, etc.
Produce high value quotes and bids from estimates developed by inside sales.

Technical Expectations

A successful candidate must either possess or be capable of rapidly developing a strong conceptual understanding of:

Mixing technologies and process applications
Impacts of upstream and downstream processes on mixer selection
Equipment selection criteria
Mixing energy and motor sizing
Drive configurations and wet end material selections
Installation requirements
Ability to interpret plans, specifications, tank and agitator datasheets, P&IDs and process flow diagrams
Basic AutoCAD LT literacy preferred but not required

Account Management

Key account categories include:

Large municipalities
Consulting engineering firms
EPC contractors
Major rep agencies
Major municipal utilities
Major mining companies
Developing account plans for top strategic targets
Coordinating site visits and technical discussions
Managing long‑term relationships and repeat business

Negotiation Responsibilities

The Sales Manager must be capable of negotiating:

Pricing and commercial terms
Project‑specific strategies
Rep commission issues
Warranty discussions
Delivery schedules and expectations

Required Qualifications

5+ years of technical sales experience in engineered or industrial equipment
Experience working with manufacturer’s representatives
Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications
Strong presentation skills (lunch‑and‑learns, rep training, municipal visits)
Ability to travel 25–40%
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, Gmail
CRM experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in water/wastewater, minerals, or industrial process equipment
Background in rotating equipment (mixers, pumps, blowers, etc.)
Familiarity with municipal procurement processes
PowerBI experience for territory analytics

Work Location & Travel

Based in Salt Lake City, UT
Remote eligible after 2–3 month onboarding period
Travel approximately twice per month (domestic)
Occasional international travel possible depending on project needs

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
