Fairway Home Mortgage is looking for an experienced mortgage loan officer assistant who is proactive, organized, energetic and ready to make an impact working with one of our top-producing teams.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, follows through, and enjoys being an important part of a successful team.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role with plenty of variety. You’ll work alongside an experienced production and operations team, helping keep communication, clients, files and priorities moving forward.
Mortgage industry experience is required. This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for someone who understands the mortgage business, can jump in, learn our systems and processes, contribute quickly, and grow into an important part of our team.
This position is full-time and in-office in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with prequalification preparation, borrower communication and file organization
- Monitor new applications, incoming documentation and front-end pipeline activity
- Help prepare organized, complete files for smooth transition into processing and underwriting
- Review and analyze new loan applications, including income, credit, assets and supporting documentation
- Run AUS findings and assist with qualification analysis and loan structuring
- Order and track VOEs, condo documentation and other loan-related items
- Maintain accurate notes, follow-up systems, pipeline lists and electronic loan files
- Monitor email and communication flow and help ensure time-sensitive items are addressed promptly
- Assist with summary emails, client follow-up, pipeline management and milestone communication
- Provide backup support for phones and other office/team responsibilities as needed
- Help maintain an exceptional client and referral-partner experience from beginning to end

Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of mortgage industry experience REQUIRED — LOA, Processor, Mortgage Assistant, Mortgage Operations or similar
- Encompass experience preferred and is a plus
- Experience supporting a mortgage pipeline or high-producing loan officer/team strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo and general mortgage lending processes
- Ability to review income, assets, credit and supporting borrower documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organization and follow-through
- Strong Outlook/email and task-management skills
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Highly self-motivated with a strong ownership mindset
- Positive, professional, coachable and collaborative
- NMLS license is a plus — or willingness to obtain licensure with company support
- Must be able to work full-time in our Salt Lake City office
