Position Title: Pesticide Applicator

Job Title: Pesticide Applicator

Reports to: Assistant Director, Facility Services Pay Grade: N07

Terms of
Employment:

240 days per year.

At-Will employment agreement.

Salary is in the pay grade N07 on the Non-

Exempt SAISD Compensation Plan.

Entry hourly is at $17.75 with consideration for

directly related experience.

Position Summary
To assist in the attainment of District goals through effective and efficient implementation of foliage and pest
control.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain current license and certification at all times in all areas specified by the District. Must stay
current with required Continuing Education Units.

2. Implement the District’s Application and treatment program.
3. Apply chemicals as necessary in a safe and appropriate manner; ensure Federal, State, and local laws and

procedures are always followed.
4. Keep inventory of chemicals and application files on hand. Ensure record keeping meets Federal, State,

local and District’s requirements.
5. Select appropriate chemicals for solution of problems.
6. Assist other applicators in pest and foliage control as needed.
7. Maintain equipment and vehicle in good condition and ensure their proper use.
8. Establish and maintain treatment schedules.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities

expected for this position.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting

agency)

1+ years’ experience in the application of weed control, lawn, and ornamental chemicals

Valid Texas driver’s license with good driving record (meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility)

Current Texas Department of Agriculture License/Certification in Pest and certified in one of the following

three areas: Termite, Weed, or Lawn and Ornamental. Must obtain State Structural Board
License/Certification in the remaining two fields within one hundred and twenty (120) working days for
continued employment

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Current License/Certification in weed control, lawn, and ornamental

Compile, maintain and file all reports, records, and other required documents applicable to position.

Work Environment:

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and

equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional

exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting,

climbing ladders, working in crawl spaces such as attics, basements and under the building in confined
spaces, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions,
hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-
44 pounds.
