Full Job Description

Lone Star OB/GYN Associates has provided women’s health care services to San Antonio for over 20 years. We foster a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere that creates a pleasant experience. We form positive, long-lasting relationships with our patients, giving us the ability to provide truly effective care. We value our employees and are seeking an experienced full-time Medical Receptionist for our busy practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

Answer a high volume of incoming calls and schedule patient appointments, take messages for the back office staff while they are in clinic.
Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in-person or by telephone accurately in a professional and timely manner.
Encourage patients to use patient portal and educate them how to use it in order to avoid long wait times on the phone.
Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Responsible for keeping the reception and waiting room areas clean and organized, including sanitizing door handles and surfaces.
Maintains patients' accounts by obtaining and updating existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.
Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges.
Explain to patients the coverage amounts provided by their insurance policy so they can understand why some procedures may be covered, while others are not. Collecting patient responsibility balances.
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
Maintain security by following procedures; monitoring logbook

Qualifications and Skills Required Qualifications:

High school graduate
Basic computer literacy
Knowledge of Medical terminology
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to handle high volume of patients and calls
1-year of experience in a medical office setting

Preferred Qualifications: At least one year experience in a clinical setting

1-year Experience with an OB/GYN office
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Familiarity with local insurance plans and procedures
