POSITION DESCRIPTION - The Grants & Development Manager is responsible for leading and managing the full grant lifecycle and supporting CASA SB’s fund development strategy to secure and sustain funding for the organization. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, this position researches funding opportunities, writes and submits grant proposals, manages post-award compliance and reporting, and cultivates relationships with funders, foundations, corporations, and government partners. The Grants & Development Manager collaborates with program and finance staff to gather outcomes, success stories, and budget data that clearly communicate CASA SB’s mission and inspire investment in youth in foster care throughout San Bernardino County.
Grant Writing, Research & Management
- Actively engage in ongoing prospect research to identify funding opportunities that align with CASA SB’s mission, offer a favorable return on investment, and advance strategic priorities
- Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, coordinating budget data, and obtaining internal approvals
- Support the writing and submission of government, foundation, corporate, and private grant proposals, including Cal OES (VOCA/VCGF), CFS, CalCRG, Judicial Council/Title IV-E, California CASA, and private foundation grants
- Maintain an accurate grants calendar tracking prospecting, qualifications, submissions, deadlines, stewardship, and the status of each proposal and report
- Manage post-award compliance and reporting activities, ensuring all grant reports and financial reports are accurate, audit-ready, and submitted at or ahead of set deadlines
- Maintain and update agency-level boilerplate, program data, and a database of grant information, submissions, progress, and reporting
- Keep current with changes in grant funding policies, allowable costs, and reporting requirements, and communicate risks associated with proposals
Fund Development & Donor Relations
- Support the implementation and execution of CASA SB’s annual development strategy to meet year-end fundraising and revenue goals
- Cultivate and steward relationships with funders, foundations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to strengthen long-term support
- Collaborate with program staff to collect success stories, outcomes, and performance metrics needed for grant reporting and funder stewardship
- Assist with the creation of development and communication materials, including the annual report, fundraising appeals, sponsorship requests, and donor acknowledgements
- Support donor cultivation and fundraising events, including the annual gala, in coordination with the CEO and development team
Collaboration & Administrative Support
- Collaborate with the CEO, program directors, and finance staff to align funding requests with organizational needs, budgets, and strategic goals
- Monitor grant and contract budgets, ensuring funds are drawn down appropriately and expended in a timely manner in compliance with funder requirements
- Ensure strict compliance with grant agreements, funder requirements, and internal financial controls
- Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value
- Maintain confidentiality of donor, youth, and organizational information at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of three years of successful grant writing and grant management experience, with a proven ability to secure government and private funding
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, or grants in a nonprofit setting preferred
- Strong understanding of nonprofit fundraising strategy, the donor cycle, and government and private philanthropy
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
- Well-organized with a high capacity for attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and independently
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, grant management software, and CRM/donor databases
- Work cooperatively with different personalities and individuals of diverse backgrounds

- Have transportation, insurance, and be willing to travel throughout the County
- Completion of background screening process (i.e. DMV check, FBI, Department of Justice (DOJ), CACI (Child Abuse Central Index), and complete 30-hour CASA training

Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
