Medical Billing Collector (Healthcare)
Location: San Bernardino, CA 92408
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Contract: 13-Week Contract
Start Date: July 27, 2026

Aya Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Collector to join a busy healthcare revenue cycle team in San Bernardino, CA. This onsite opportunity is ideal for candidates with medical billing, accounts receivable, insurance collections, and claims follow-up experience who enjoy resolving complex reimbursement issues and working directly with insurance payors.

The ideal candidate has experience with healthcare collections, insurance billing, denial management, and maintaining accurate patient account balances while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

Perform accounts receivable (A/R) collections for multiple insurance payors and healthcare entities.
Review and audit patient accounts to ensure accurate balances and appropriate reimbursement.
Follow up on unpaid claims by contacting insurance companies via phone, online portals, and written correspondence.
Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies.
Submit corrected claims, tracer claims, and rebill claims as necessary.
Research and resolve collection issues with commercial, government, and managed care payors.
Identify misapplied payments and process payment transfers, adjustments, and refunds.
Maintain detailed documentation of collection activities and account follow-up.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing and reimbursement concerns.
Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.

Qualifications

Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare collections, or accounts receivable required.
Knowledge of insurance claims processing, reimbursement, and denial management.
Experience working with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, or managed care insurance plans preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple accounts while meeting productivity goals.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and healthcare billing systems preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
