About the Role
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the professional and timely resolution of alerts generated from system-managed devices across multiple client environments. The complexity of alerts will range from simple to complex based on the specific client infrastructure. Responsibilities include architecture, installation, support, and documentation of client systems infrastructure networks with capability across Microsoft and virtualized platforms. Systems managed devices range from enterprise storage arrays to local area networking equipment as well as virtualized and physical servers. From time to time, the Systems Engineer may be tasked to work on projects ranging from simple infrastructure refresh to cloud migrations to complex infrastructure implementations.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve systems-generated alerts including monitoring of customer backup environments, VMware environments, patch management, and infrastructure projects across multiple client environments
- Serve as an escalation point for the support team and take regular calls as needed during high volume periods
- Ensure high level of responsiveness, communication, professionalism, and technical knowledge while continuously striving to improve client experience, perception, and overall satisfaction
- Perform regular maintenance tasks on managed devices including firewalls, switches, routers, and servers (both physical and virtual) as directed by management
- Follow all in-place change control procedures
- Manage and maintain customer backup environments by performing periodic reviews of systems and trial restores as needed to validate backup integrity
- Develop general understanding of each managed service's client computing environment and ability to quickly troubleshoot issues as they present themselves
- Setup, configuration, and ongoing management of RMM tools including deployment into customer environments during the onboarding process
- Identify and resolve root cause of outages caused by failures of client devices; craft complete post-mortems of events to be presented to customers as directed by management
- Coordinate with internal resources and third-party service providers to resolve issues as needed
- Exercise sound judgment while solving technical issues, including protection of client data during troubleshooting
- Manage work and time as service tickets in ticketing system; ensure prompt and accurate time entry to support client billing
- Maintain system documentation to support clients; continuously review documentation to ensure relevance to current support requirements
- Additional duties and projects as requested by manager or supervisor
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Five to seven years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft and/or VMware computing environments
- Recent support of Microsoft Office 365 and/or Azure deployments
- Current Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent certification
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated active listening and customer care in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work weekends and/or off-hours as necessary to meet business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with VMware, Enterprise Storage, Converged and Hyper-converged infrastructure
- Linux-based network administration
- Networking and firewall configuration
- Current experience working in the MSP industry

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This role requires the ability to communicate verbally and hear clearly, sit and stand for extended periods, reach with arms and hands, perform movements such as climbing, balancing, twisting, stooping, maintain near and far vision, operate a computer keyboard with regular exposure to screen glare, lift up to 25 lbs, and travel by automobile or airplane up to 25%. Must be able to concentrate and analyze information to solve problems, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain professionalism under pressure.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $142,000.00 per year
