About the Role
We’re opening our new flagship Stella & Dot boutique on Burlingame Avenue and are looking for an energetic, stylish, and reliable Part-Time Sales Associate & Keyholder to join our founding retail team.
This is more than a traditional retail sales position. Our flagship store will also serve as a space for community events, styling appointments, social content, and brand experiences. You’ll work closely with Stella & Dot leadership and our fulfillment team while helping introduce the brand to the Burlingame community.
You’ll join us in August 2026 to help prepare the store for opening, learn the Stella & Dot brand and product assortment, merchandise the space, and support opening events.
Once the doors open, you’ll spend your time styling customers, selling on the floor, creating social content, supporting community events, maintaining the store, and helping deliver an exceptional customer experience.
As a keyholder, you’ll regularly open and close the store and may occasionally operate the store independently.

Pre-Opening Responsibilities
Before the doors open, you will:
- Help organize, unpack, tag, and merchandise opening inventory, including fashion jewelry, fine jewelry, accessories, apparel, and handbags.
- Develop strong knowledge of Stella & Dot products, jewelry materials, care, styling, and brand storytelling.
- Learn the store’s POS system, inventory procedures, returns processes, and opening and closing procedures.
- Help prepare the store for opening day, including merchandising, signage, organization, and maintaining a beautiful customer experience.
- Support the planning and execution of our grand-opening events and activities.
Sales & Customer Experience
- Deliver warm, engaging, and personalized customer service.
- Help customers discover products they love through styling consultations, jewelry layering, and product recommendations.
- Build strong product knowledge and confidently communicate product features, materials, care, and styling ideas.
- Process purchases, returns, exchanges, repairs, and special customer requests according to Stella & Dot policies.
- Help build relationships with local customers through thoughtful follow-up and personalized outreach.
- Support store sales goals by providing exceptional service and actively engaging customers.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic store environment.
Community Events & Give-Back Program
Community is an important part of the Stella & Dot brand and our flagship store experience. You will:
- Help identify local schools, PTAs, sports teams, nonprofits, and community organizations that may be interested in partnering with Stella & Dot.
- Support outreach and promotion for in-store give-back shopping events.
- Help host styling sessions, trunk shows, private shopping events, and community fundraisers.
- Welcome event guests, provide styling assistance, and help create a fun and memorable shopping experience.
- Represent Stella & Dot at select community events and activities in Burlingame and across the Peninsula.
Content Creation & Social Media
Our flagship store will also serve as a place to create authentic, engaging content for the Stella & Dot community. You will:
- Help create social content as part of the natural rhythm of the store, including styling videos, try-ons, new-arrival features, event recaps, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- Be comfortable occasionally appearing on camera for Stella & Dot’s social channels.
- Help stage and capture product, styling, and store content that reflects the Stella & Dot brand.
- Share trends, customer feedback, styling ideas, and content opportunities with the marketing team.
Jewelry & Visual Merchandising
- Maintain strong product knowledge across Stella & Dot collections.
- Keep jewelry displays, product groupings, and store merchandising organized, visually appealing, and aligned with brand standards.
- Help refresh displays for new product launches, promotions, events, and seasonal campaigns.
- Maintain jewelry presentation and product condition throughout the store.
- Keep the store clean, organized, welcoming, and ready for customers at all times.
Store Operations & Keyholder Responsibilities
- Open and close the store according to established procedures.
- Operate the POS system and accurately process customer transactions.
- Complete opening and end-of-day procedures, including basic reconciliation and cash handling.
- Follow store security, shrink-prevention, and loss-prevention procedures
- Respond reliably to store communications and time-sensitive operational needs.
- Work independently when scheduled as the primary keyholder on duty.
- Collaborate with Stella & Dot leadership and our back-of-house team, including our company office and e-commerce fulfillment operations located in the rear of the store.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1–3 years of retail, customer service, hospitality, or sales experience; fashion, jewelry, accessories, or lifestyle brand experience is strongly preferred.
- Passion for fashion, personal styling, jewelry, and helping customers discover products they love.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, outgoing approach to customer service.
- Reliable, responsible, and comfortable opening, closing, and occasionally operating the store independently.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a beautiful, organized retail environment.
- Comfortable learning and using POS systems and basic retail technology.
- Comfortable participating in social content and occasionally appearing on camera.
- Interest in community events, local partnerships, and building relationships with customers.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify what needs to be done during slower store periods.
- A collaborative, positive, and energetic approach to working with a small team.
- Alignment with the Stella & Dot mission of empowering women through community, confidence, and beautiful design.
Compensation & Benefits
- $20–$24 per hour, based on experience.
- Approximately 8–20 hours per week.
