Full Job Description

DiamondCore Tools is an industry-leading manufacturer of premium ceramic and pottery tools trusted by artists, educators, and studios around the world. We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Operations Manager who shares our commitment to craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and leading people with integrity.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for leading the daily manufacturing, warehouse, receiving, inventory, and material flow operations at DiamondCore Tools.

This is not a desk job. We are looking for a leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working alongside the team, solving problems, and continuously improving operations. The successful candidate leads by example, earns the respect of the team through action, and creates a positive, productive workplace where employees can succeed.

The ideal candidate has a strong manufacturing background, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about developing people while improving operational performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Production Assembly (Approximately 50%)

Lead daily production assembly operations.
Balance workloads and remove production bottlenecks.
Assist with production assembly when needed.
Ensure products are built safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Maintain production schedules while meeting DiamondCore's quality standards.

Material Flow (Approximately 25%)

Coordinate the movement of materials from receiving through production and into finished goods.
Ensure workstations remain supplied with materials.
Improve workflow between warehouse, production, quality control, and shipping.
Coordinate with outsourced production partners as appropriate.

Receiving (Approximately 15%)

Oversee receiving of incoming inventory.
Verify quantities and inspect materials for quality.
Ensure inventory is received and put away promptly.
Resolve receiving discrepancies.

Inventory Management (Approximately 10%)

Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting and inventory control.
Organize warehouse storage locations.
Monitor inventory integrity.
Support physical inventory activities.

Hands-On Leadership Expectations

This position requires an active leader who spends significant time on the production floor.

Within the first six months, the successful candidate is expected to become proficient in all major warehouse and manufacturing functions, including:

Receiving
Inventory management
Material handling
Production assembly
Production scheduling
Quality control
Packaging and shipping

Our goal is for this individual to become the operational subject matter expert for DiamondCore's manufacturing processes while developing others through coaching, documentation, and cross-training.

Qualifications

Required

5+ years of manufacturing or warehouse operations experience.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
Experience in production assembly.
Experience with receiving and inventory control.
Strong warehouse organization and material flow knowledge.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving ability.
High level of accountability and integrity.
Ability to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Preferred

Lean Manufacturing and/or 5S experience.
Experience improving manufacturing processes.
ERP or inventory management software experience.
Small manufacturing company experience.

What Success Looks Like

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will be measured by their ability to:

Maintain production capacity that supports fulfillment of B2C customer orders within 24 hours, minimizing preventable backorders.
Support fulfillment of B2B customer orders within 36 hours whenever product availability allows.
Maintain 98% or greater inventory accuracy.
Receive, inspect, and properly stock incoming inventory within 24 hours of arrival whenever practical.
Maintain a 99% or greater first-pass production quality rate, minimizing rework while preserving DiamondCore's standards of craftsmanship.
Continuously improve production flow, warehouse organization, and operational efficiency.
Develop a highly cross-trained team capable of supporting multiple operational functions.
Create and maintain documented standard operating procedures that reduce dependence on any one individual.
Foster a positive, respectful, productive, and drama-free work environment where teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement are expected every day.
