Position: Scientist I
Location: San Diego, CA 92111 (Poseida)
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)
Pay Rate: $27.96 - $44.82/hour (W2)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I to join the Gene Therapy team in San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative non-viral nucleic acid delivery technologies for in vivo and ex vivo genome editing and gene therapy applications. The successful candidate will support the analytical characterization of novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapeutics and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids under the guidance of Analytical Scientists.
Analyze raw materials used in LNP formulations to ensure quality and consistency.
Evaluate the relationship between the physicochemical properties of experimental nanoparticle formulations and their efficacy and safety.
Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized analytical records and experimental documentation.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support research and development activities.
Assist with routine laboratory operations, including supply ordering, instrument calibration, and maintenance of laboratory schedules.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
0–2 years of relevant industry or academic laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Preferred Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as:
- RiboGreen assays
- Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)
- Zeta Potential measurements
Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with additional analytical characterization techniques is a plus.
Experience preparing and formulating laboratory buffers.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to generate accurate, reproducible results.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis software such as GraphPad Prism or JMP is desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
