Roles And Responsibilities:
· Review, analyze, and document existing Power BI reports and dashboards, including their SAP BW InfoProvider, BEx query, data connection, transformation, and dependency structures.
· Assess the technical complexity of each report and develop a structured migration and conversion approach, including effort estimates, risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
· Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of the SAP BW/BEx to SAP Datasphere migration for the Port's Power BI reporting portfolio.
· Repoint existing Power BI reports from legacy SAP BW/BEx data sources to Port-provided SAP Datasphere Graphical Views (GVs).
· Analyze and rebuild report functionality that does not automatically carry forward during the source migration.
· Rebuild and optimize complex business logic using Advanced DAX and Power Query/M, including calculations, restricted and calculated key figures, query variables, default values, hierarchy handling, exception aggregation, and currency or unit conversions, as required.
· Update and optimize data transformations, field mappings, data models, relationships, measures, calculated columns, filters, slicers, Row-Level Security (RLS), and report visualizations.
· Lead the conversion and remediation of complex, high-impact, and multi-source Power BI reports and dashboards.
· Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation between legacy SAP BW/BEx outputs and the converted SAP Datasphere-based reports at the row, aggregate, and filtered-view levels.
· Identify, investigate, document, and resolve data discrepancies, conversion issues, functional defects, and performance concerns.
· Coordinate closely with the Port's Business Intelligence Analyst and SAP Datasphere modeling team to address source-data issues, Graphical View dependencies, and technical defects.
· Provide technical leadership, mentoring, guidance, and quality oversight to supporting Power BI developers assigned to the engagement.
· Conduct technical and quality reviews of converted reports to ensure accuracy, functionality, performance, maintainability, and alignment with business requirements.
· Support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect remediation, and final validation of all converted reports.
· Develop new Power BI reports and dashboards in accordance with Port requirements and approved technical standards.
· Modify and enhance existing Power BI reports and dashboards to accommodate evolving business and operational requirements.
· Optimize Power BI datasets, data models, DAX calculations, queries, refresh processes, and report performance.
· Support and maintain Power BI technical components, including gateways, dataset refresh, deployment pipelines, workspace configuration, and Row-Level Security, as required.
· Maintain comprehensive conversion tracking documentation, technical design artifacts, discrepancy logs, validation evidence, and implementation records.
· Ensure compliance with applicable Port IT security, data handling, access control, change-management, and governance requirements.
· Support knowledge transfer and develop sufficient technical documentation to enable Port staff to maintain and support the converted Power BI reporting environment.
· Provide technical leadership throughout the engagement by developing effort estimates, identifying delivery risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and advising on technical decisions.
Required Technical Experience and Expertise
The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in:
· SAP BW and BEx Queries, including InfoProviders, InfoCubes, DataStore Objects, InfoObjects, attributes, and BEx query components.
· SAP Dataspherz, including Spaces, Graphical Views, semantic modeling, associations, and consumption of Datasphere data through Power BI.
· Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including enterprise report and dashboard development.
· Advanced DAX, including measures, calculations, time intelligence, context transition, and performance optimization.
· Advanced Power Query / M, including query folding, parameterization, error handling, and data transformation patterns.
· SAP BW/BEx-to-SAP Datasphere migrations, or comparable SAP analytics source migrations involving the repointing and validation of downstream Power BI reports.
· Data reconciliation and validation, including comparison of legacy and converted reports and investigation of numerical discrepancies.
· Power BI data modeling, including star schema design, relationships, cardinality, role-playing dimensions, composite models, and aggregations.
· Power BI performance tuning and optimization, particularly when working with SAP data sources.
· Power BI gateways, dataset refresh, deployment pipelines, workspace management, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
Core Technical Requirement
· The selected resource must be capable of managing the complete end-to-end report conversion lifecycle, rather than simply changing or repointing data connections.
· The candidate must have the technical capability to analyze existing SAP BW/BEx report dependencies and determine which business logic must be rebuilt within the Power BI environment.
· This may include rebuilding BEx calculations, restricted and calculated key figures, variables, hierarchies, exception aggregation, transformations, and other reporting logic using DAX and Power Query/M.
· The candidate must also be able to validate and reconcile the converted Power BI reports against the legacy SAP BW/BEx environment, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure that the final SAP Datasphere-based reports meet the required standards for accuracy, functionality, performance, and maintainability
