Seeking a Senior Epic Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer to design, develop, and evaluate advanced software training programs.
This position will create engaging digital, instructor-led, and blended learning experiences focused primarily on Epic and its integrated systems. The successful candidate will work with technical teams, operational leaders, educators, and other stakeholders to identify performance gaps and develop practical training solutions that improve system utilization, workflows, documentation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and validate Epic training curricula, eLearning courses, instructional materials, and training environments.
- Conduct learning needs assessments and identify end-user performance gaps.
- Establish learning objectives and design effective educational interventions.
- Create digital, instructor-led, remote, and blended learning programs.
- Develop templates and maximize the use of learning technologies and eLearning tools.
- Build structured, interactive eLearning modules using adult learning principles.
- Create knowledge checks, assessments, and other course-evaluation tools.
- Manage the daily operation and maintenance of the Learning Management System.
- Ensure Epic training environments are properly built, maintained, and optimized.
- Audit courses and evaluate the effectiveness and business impact of learning programs.
- Use learning analytics, data, and performance metrics to improve training.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
- Partner with leadership to ensure training transfers effectively into the operational work environment.
- Collaborate with Epic analysts and technical teams to resolve complex content and delivery issues.
- Consult with and mentor team members and department educators on eLearning development.
- Maintain expertise in assigned Epic modules and related software.
- Support curriculum planning tied to organizational goals, operational workflows, and end-user responsibilities.
Must-Have Requirements
Candidates must meet all the following requirements:
- At least five years of experience in instructional design and web-based or eLearning development.
- Epic certification in at least one module.
- Bachelor’s degree; or an associate degree plus at least seven years of relevant experience.
- Experience developing technical training and eLearning programs.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems and integrated learning tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, learner motivation, and professional development.
- Experience with eLearning development and content-authoring tools.
- Experience leading the educational components of multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and deliver high-quality work on time.
- Experience using learning analytics, data, and performance metrics to improve training.
- Working knowledge of multimedia delivery formats, including streaming video and animation.
- Understanding of in-person, remote, online, and blended learning methods.
- Experience developing curricula, learning objectives, knowledge checks, and assessments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, ambiguity, and tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build trusted working relationships with business and operational leaders.
- Ability to independently manage and improve curriculum with minimal direction.
- Strong English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Master Training Environment build experience.
- Instructional Design certificate.
- Experience with graphic design, usability design, software development, or multimedia production.
- Experience mentoring educators or instructional design team members.
- Familiarity with clinical documentation workflows and healthcare operations.
