Full Job Description

We are seeking an Outside Plant Manager to lead copper OSP field operations. This role owns crew productivity, safety, and quality on aerial, buried, and underground copper plant — including splicing, sheath repair, pressurization, fault location, cutovers, and cable recovery on retired plant.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations

Plan, schedule, and dispatch copper OSP crews across multiple concurrent job sites; balance workload against ticket volume and committed completion dates.
Manage aerial, buried, and underground copper work: splicing (encapsulated, modular, and hand-wrapped), ready-access terminals, pedestals, cross-connect boxes and SAIs, load coils, and manhole work.
Direct fault location and repair activity — TDR, tone and probe, ohmmeter/megger testing, pressure contour analysis — and drive first-time-fix rates.
Oversee air pressure and dehydrator systems on pressurized plant; manage leak locating and sheath integrity programs.
Coordinate 811/One Call locate tickets, permits, traffic control plans, and railroad/DOT crossings.
Manage cable throws, cutovers, and rearrangement work with minimal customer outage exposure

Crew Leadership

Supervise splicers, technicians, and preppers, including journeyman-level staff and apprentices.
Interview, hire, onboard, and train; build the bench through structured apprenticeship and mentoring.
Conduct performance reviews, manage attendance and conduct, and administer progressive discipline.
Administer collective bargaining agreement provisions where applicable and maintain a constructive relationship with union representatives.

Quality, Reporting & Customer Interface

Perform in-process and final quality inspections; enforce splicing standards, bonding and grounding, and as-built accuracy.
Serve as primary field point of contact for the client's construction and engineering teams.
Track and report daily production, unit completions, crew utilization, rework, and job cost against estimate.
Manage fleet, tooling, test sets, and material inventory; control consumable spend and equipment downtime.

Required Qualifications

7+ years in copper outside plant, with at least 3 years in a lead, foreman, or supervisory capacity.
Journeyman-level copper splicing proficiency across aerial, buried, and underground plant.
Working knowledge of OSP prints, route maps, cable counts, and as-built documentation.
Demonstrated command of OSHA construction standards applicable to utility work.
Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR; ability to obtain DOT medical card.
Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and any client-required credentialing.
Competent with Microsoft Office and field ticketing/work management systems.

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
