Full Job Description

Aerospace precision manufacturer located in Brea currently seeking candidate for CNC Lathe Set Up. Seeking Experienced CNC Lathe machinist who can do Set-Ups and edit programs.

Position Summary

Lathe Set-Up Machinist

Responsible for setting up lathe machines so operators are ready to run machines. You will be responsible for making sure the set up remains successful throughout the production run. This position will also be operating more complex lathe work to produce precision parts. We run small batches and/or large quantities of parts. You must be able to ensure products meet precise specifications.

Basic Skills Required

Able to lift 50-60 pounds
Previous experience editing programs/setting-up jobs for machine operators
Good mathematical and computer skills
Minimum of 5 years machine shop experience, aerospace preferred.
AS9100 experience preferred.

Qualifications

Ability to read blueprints.
Good Attendance Records
Proven ability to machine quality parts on CNC Lathes.
Knowledge and understanding of all tooling used in the department.
Some knowledge of inspection room equipment (CMM, Comparator etc.)
Good verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to follow directions and retain information.
Detail oriented
Effective time management skills
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, self-motivated and takes pride in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review blueprints and job traveler for the specifications of parts
Set-up machine and produce 1st article part
Set-up Class C and Class D Machinists with operating and inspection instructions.
Operate difficult parts, while maintaining finishes and tolerances.
Inspects parts for damages or defects (including but not limited to bad finish, marks, undercuts, out of tolerance etc.); records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor immediately.
Read and edit program if adjustments need to be made.
Offset, make adjustments and replace necessary tools on the machine.
Bore jaws and change chucks on the machine as needed.
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
