Position: Production & Bead Blast Technician

Shift: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Pay Range: $26-$34 per hour (DOE)

This open position is with the Thermionics Metal Processing, Inc. (“TMPI”) division.
Position Overview
TMPI is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Production & Bead Blast Technician to join our precision metal processing team. In this role, you will safely operate specialized multi-stage chemical cleaning systems, immersion tanks, passivation baths, high-pressure wash stations, and advanced rinsing and drying equipment to clean and process precision customer components for the semiconductor, aerospace, industrial, and ultra-high vacuum industries.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, quality-driven, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and precision. This position requires the ability to accurately follow travelers, blueprints, engineering drawings, customer specifications, photographs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions while ensuring all parts are processed free of contamination and meet strict customer quality requirements.
Successful candidates will maintain accurate production records using manufacturing software, communicate professionally regarding quality concerns and non-conformances, and work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail, the ability to safely handle chemicals and industrial equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential to success in this role.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Production & Chemical Processing
- Process precision components through multi-stage chemical cleaning, degreasing, rinsing, passivation, and drying systems according to customer specifications.
- Safely operate immersion tanks containing detergents, acids, solvents, and specialty chemical solutions.
- Prepare customer components using baskets, hooks, fixtures, and overhead hoists to prevent damage during processing.
- Operate high-pressure wash stations, nitrogen (N₂) and CDA drying equipment, and bead blast equipment.
- Review and follow travelers, blueprints, photographs, engineering drawings, customer specifications, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Visually inspect parts before, during, and after processing to identify contamination, scratches, staining, defects, or processing abnormalities.
- Verify that customer parts remain separated by material type to prevent cross-contamination or adverse chemical reactions.
- Identify machining oils, cutting fluids, oxidation, and contaminants that may compromise cleaning chemistry.
- Perform Water Break Free testing and other quality verification methods.
- Record production information accurately within the company's production tracking system.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly through professional written documentation and email.
- Maintain production quotas while ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Bead-Blast Production Line
Bead Blasting is a specialized surface preparation professional in manufacturing and industrial settings. This role involves using high-pressure air to shoot tiny glass beads (or other media) at metal parts to clean, deburr, or create a uniform, matte, or satin surface finish.
Bead Blast Responsibilities
- Operate bead blast equipment to clean, deburr, and prepare precision metal components.
- Prepare, clean, degrease, and mask parts prior to blasting.
- Visually inspect parts before and after blasting.
- Monitor equipment performance and replace blasting media as required.
- Maintain bead blast cabinets, filters, and dust collection systems.
- Ensure finished parts meet customer quality specifications.
Quality Control
- Visually inspect parts, count parts before and after processing to ensure zero contamination or chemical / loss / damage parts took place during process.
- Prior to processing technicians must isolate components by material type before batch submersion to prevent cross-contamination or chemical reactions.
- Identify heavy drawing oils, cutting fluids on inbound parts to eliminate compromise of chemistry of the main community tanks.
- Perform water-break-free verification testing on rinsed surfaces to guarantee the complete elimination of contamination.
- Maintain accurate, real-time records of production cleaning and chemical parameters.
- Draft and email concise, detailed non-conformance updates to supervisor if a customer’s part suffers staining, chemical over-etch, or reveals material flaws after any process cycles.

Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Manufacturing or production experience
- Experience working in chemical processing, metal finishing, industrial cleaning, or similar environments preferred
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to safely work with chemicals and industrial equipment

- Aerospace manufacturing experience

- Experience using manufacturing production tracking systems

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per shift
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull
- Wear required PPE throughout the shift, including respirators (when required), gloves, gowns, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear
- Safely work around industrial cleaning chemicals, acids, detergents, and high-pressure equipment
