Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Heart & Vascular Center’s Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to help grow our program. The UCSF team consists of highly experienced physicians, surgeons, APPs, nurses, social workers, medical and administrative personnel. Our MCS program is nationally known for cutting edge MSC support in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and offers a variety of support systems (long-term and short-term).

The Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Medical Assistant will be responsible for supporting MCS patient care in accordance with federal, local, and internal standards, policies, and regulations. Duties include monitoring and managing patient equipment, monitoring and supporting patient selection by performing cognitive and motor tests, supporting patient care in MCS clinic.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

Associate degree in related area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

Bachelor’s degree

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Medical Assistant

POPULATIONS SERVED

Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of a specific individual, including the patient’s age for adult and geriatric patient population.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in a medical equipment management role or a similar administrative position.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with the MCS team.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in equipment management and patient care.
Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for equipment tracking and inventory management.
Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.
Proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Takes initiative. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously, respond rapidly to conflicting priorities, and handle tasks with high degree of accuracy.
Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment and learn new skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic understanding of MCS support systems.
A passion for contributing to the growth and success of the MCS Program.
