Under general direction, provides leadership and management to plan, coordinate and direct customer program activities including communications, public benefits, satisfaction and service, community outreach, communication of information, and business processes; electric utility supply, demand-side resource acquisition and portfolio management; manages participation and response to California electric market related regulatory and legislative issues; and manages necessary technical interfaces with joint power agencies. Leads the development and implementation of customer-facing programs and strategies supporting decarbonization, electrification (including building and transportation electrification), distributed energy resources (DERs), demand response, energy efficiency, and customer affordability. This is a senior executive management classification responsible for directing the Customer and Energy Resources division of Alameda Municipal Power. This classification is distinguished from the General Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the entire utility, while this position manages a major functional division and participates in the development and implementation of utility-wide strategy, policy, and objectives. It is further distinguished from lower-level supervisory and management classifications, including Supervisor–Energy Resources and Supervisor–Customer Resources, which are responsible for discrete programs or sections, in that this position has broad managerial and policy-level responsibility across multiple functional areas, exercises a high degree of independent judgment, and is accountable for integrating customer programs, energy resource planning, rates and pricing, and regulatory requirements to achieve reliability, affordability, and environmental objectives.

Selection Process: The examination process may include an application and supplemental questionnaire evaluation, a written exam, a performance exam, and/or an oral interview.
