Artist-in-ResidenceOverview
As an Artist-in-Residence, you'll spend four weeks exploring the creative possibilities of AI while developing original projects using Akool's creative tools. Rather than completing client work, you'll use the residency as a creative laboratory—experimenting, building a portfolio, documenting your process, and collaborating with other residents.
We're looking for curious creators who have a strong artistic voice and are excited to push the boundaries of AI-assisted creativity.
Responsibilities
- Develop one or more original creative projects during the residency.
- Experiment with Akool's AI creative tools and explore new artistic workflows.
- Attend in-person studio hours and participate in creative discussions and critiques.
- Share feedback that helps improve the creative tools and overall artist experience.
- Document your creative process through images, videos, notes, or behind-the-scenes content.
- Collaborate with fellow residents on creative experiments and community activities.
- Present your work during residency showcases or demo sessions.
- Contribute portfolio pieces that may be featured by Akool (with your permission).
We're Looking For
- Artists, filmmakers, designers, illustrators, photographers, animators, musicians, writers, storytellers, game creators, or other creative practitioners.
- A portfolio demonstrating creative work in any medium.
- Curiosity about AI and emerging creative technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while participating in a collaborative creative community.
- Excitement about experimenting, learning, and sharing ideas.
Previous experience using AI tools is not required. We're looking for creative thinkers with a willingness to explore new workflows.
What You'll Gain
- Hands-on experience using professional AI creative tools.
- Mentorship from the Akool team.
- Connections with fellow creators in the Bay Area.
- New portfolio pieces created during the residency.
- Opportunities to be featured across Akool's marketing and creator channels.
- Early access to new creative features and the opportunity to help shape future products.
We encourage applicants from all creative backgrounds and disciplines. Whether you're an illustrator experimenting with animation, a filmmaker exploring AI storytelling, or a musician interested in visual media, we're excited to see how you imagine the future of creativity.
