Job Overview:
The Clinical Manager is a dynamic and compassionate leader who supports the daily operations of our Adolescent & Adult Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization programs. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in direct client care and team support, someone who is highly present, able to lead by example, and responsive to the moment to moment needs of a fast paced treatment environment.

The Clinical Manager reports directly to the Clinical Directors and serves as their clinical “right hand,” ensuring that programming runs smoothly and that clients receive high quality, clinically sound care. This role also plays a key part in supporting clinical quality, staff development, and admissions processes. The position maintains a small client caseload.

Duties:

Clinical Presence & Support

Maintain a consistent, visible on the floor presence during programming
Step in to lead or assist groups, manage escalations, and provide in the moment clinical interventions as needed
Ensure programming remains aligned with treatment goals, structure, and therapeutic intent
Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts, modeling reliability and professionalism for the team

Client Care & Intervention

Provide individual and family therapy to a small caseload of clients
Run therapeutic groups across programs, provide group coverage as needed
Support IOP/PHP clients through crisis intervention, de-escalation, and emotional regulation strategies
Conduct integrated clinical assessments for program admissions, ensuring appropriate level of care placement
Collaborate closely with the treatment team to ensure continuity of care across levels of service
Communicate client updates, safety concerns, and treatment observations directly to the Clinical Directors
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with program and regulatory standards

Team Leadership & Staff Support

Serve as a visible, reliable leader on the floor, modeling professionalism, empathy, and accountability
Mentor and support AMFTs, APCCs, and trainees, providing guidance on clinical questions, case conceptualization, and interventions
Take a leadership role during crisis situations, offering direction and support to pre-licensed staff
Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture built on clear communication and mutual respect
Assist with coverage coordination and communicate daily program needs to the Clinical Directors

Quality Assurance & Clinical Oversight

Conduct quality assurance reviews, including regular chart audits to ensure documentation meets clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards
Support adherence to program policies, clinical best practices, and licensing requirements
Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with leadership to enhance clinical quality and consistency across the program

Crisis Response

Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations (ex: suicidal ideation, self-harm, behavioral escalations)
Collaborate with the Clinical Director to assess safety risks and develop short term safety plans
Be available for consultation and support during business hours (9am–7pm), including times outside of scheduled shifts as needed

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required
Active California LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Clinical Psychologist license required
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience working with adolescents in a higher level of care (IOP/PHP, residential, or inpatient), or comparable experience
Strong clinical instincts in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care
Experience conducting clinical assessments and determining appropriate level of care preferred
Experience supervising or mentoring pre-licensed clinicians strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to maintain timely documentation and manage clinical responsibilities efficiently
Strong reliability and professionalism, including consistent punctuality and dependability for scheduled shifts
Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills
Reliable, organized, and able to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
