Community Engagement & Referral Coordinator (Healthcare Outreach)

Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy is looking for a Community Engagement & Referral Coordinator to serve as a public-facing ambassador for our organization. This role focuses on building relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, families, and prospective employees while helping strengthen our reputation throughout the Bay Area.
You won't spend most of your day sitting behind a computer. Instead, you'll be attending community events, visiting referral partners, networking with professionals, supporting recruiting efforts, gathering success stories, and helping connect families with the services they need.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys relationship building, community outreach, networking, event participation, healthcare outreach, and representing a mission-driven organization.
Regular local travel, community events, and occasional evening and weekend activities are a normal part of this role.
Candidates with experience in community outreach, healthcare outreach, physician liaison work, referral development, recruiting, business development, community relations, event coordination, education, nonprofit outreach, customer success, public relations, or healthcare marketing are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do
Community Outreach & Relationship Building
- Build and maintain relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, and referral partners.
- Visit provider offices and community partners throughout the Bay Area.
- Represent JLD at community events, networking opportunities, resource fairs, conferences, and festivals.
- Conduct presentations and educational outreach within the community.
- Maintain an organized referral source and community partner database.
- Help increase awareness of JLD and the services we provide.
Referral Development
- Develop new referral relationships and strengthen existing partnerships.
- Serve as a physician liaison and provider relations representative for Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy.
- Help expand the number of active referral sources throughout the community.
- Coordinate outreach activities that support long-term growth and community engagement.
- Build strategic partnerships that strengthen community awareness and referral opportunities.
Employer Branding & Recruitment Support
- Help prospective employees learn what makes JLD a great place to work.
- Attend recruiting events, career fairs, networking opportunities, and community events as needed.
- Showcase our culture, team, and mission to potential applicants.
- Support employer branding, recruiting efforts, and talent attraction initiatives.
- Help strengthen JLD's reputation as both a trusted healthcare provider and employer of choice.
Content Gathering & Promotion
- Capture photos, videos, testimonials, and success stories that showcase our team and services.
- Assist with social media content by gathering engaging content from community events and clinic activities.
- Work with our marketing team and vendors to help share the stories and relationships being built throughout the community.
- Support promotional efforts that increase awareness of JLD's programs and services.

QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years of professional work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Current California driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Comfortable with regular local travel throughout the Bay Area.
- Ability to represent the company professionally in a variety of community settings.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, pediatric healthcare, education, community outreach, recruiting, public relations, customer service, business development, provider relations, physician liaison work, referral development, or event coordination.
- Experience working with children, families, autism services, special needs populations, developmental disabilities, pediatric therapy, or educational programs.
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese).
- Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
Schedule & Travel Expectations
This is not a traditional Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm office position.
Community events, networking opportunities, recruitment fairs, and outreach activities often occur during evenings and weekends. Staff are expected to adjust their schedules as needed to participate in these activities while maintaining a reasonable overall work schedule.
Regular travel is an essential function of this position. Staff should expect to:
- Visit physician offices, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners throughout the local area.
- Attend community events, conferences, festivals, networking opportunities, and career fairs.
- Occasionally work evenings and weekends to support outreach activities.
- Travel throughout the Bay Area as needed to represent JLD and strengthen community relationships.
