Job Title: Litigation Paralegal Location: Puerto Rico

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our attorneys in litigation matters. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing case files, maintaining court deadlines, coordinating legal proceedings, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with court requirements and firm procedures.
This position requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and a strong commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Calendar & Deadline Management
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including hearings, court appearances, filing deadlines, and trial dates.
- Monitor court orders and update calendars accordingly.
- Remove outdated calendar entries following amended scheduling or trial orders.
- Provide weekly and monthly reminders regarding upcoming hearings, deadlines, and litigation events.
- Ensure compliance with all court-imposed deadlines.
File & Document Management
- Create and maintain electronic case files and folder structures in document management systems.
- Organize, upload, and maintain legal documents in accordance with firm policies and naming conventions.
- Ensure all case files remain accurate, organized, and up to date.
Case Expense Administration
- Record and track litigation-related expenses within the firm's case management system.
- Maintain accurate expense records and supporting documentation.
Discovery Management
- Coordinate the receipt, transfer, and management of discovery materials.
- Upload and organize discovery files in electronic document repositories.
- Prepare and print discovery materials for attorney review and case preparation.
- Meet with clients to review discovery materials when appropriate and authorized.
- Coordinate the delivery of discovery to clients through approved methods.
- Maintain confidentiality and chain of custody of all discovery materials.
Travel & Scheduling Coordination
- Arrange attorney travel, including flights, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and related logistics.
- Coordinate scheduling for meetings, hearings, client appointments, and legal proceedings.
Legal & Litigation Support
- Review legal documents for formatting consistency, completeness, grammar, and typographical accuracy prior to filing.
- Prepare, file, and serve legal documents with courts and relevant agencies.
- Download, organize, and maintain filed documents within case management systems.
- Draft routine motions, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Coordinate hearings and other court-related proceedings in accordance with court instructions.
- Monitor compliance with court orders, judicial preferences, and procedural requirements.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit organization and hearing materials.
- Coordinate service of process and related messenger services.
- Prepare appellate appendices and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate legal visits, attorney-client meetings, and legal calls for detained clients.
- Assemble and maintain physical hearing and trial binders.
- Prepare case files and exhibits for court appearances and hearings.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's Degree or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of paralegal or legal support experience, preferably in litigation.
- Knowledge of Puerto Rico court procedures and litigation processes preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, OneDrive, and case management software.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, courts, and external agencies.

Pay: $33,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
