Orion Solutions, LLC is actively seeking an ASW Training Specialist, supporting a government customer in San Diego, CA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for fleet sailors in support of Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC). As a Training Specialist, the candidate will conduct both classroom and scenario-based shipboard instruction for critical tactical watch stations, including SONAR Supervisor and Acoustic Sensor Operator (ASO). A primary focus of the role is instructing Officers and Sailors in the tactical employment of the ASW SONAR Suite and the integration of embedded training systems such as the Surface ASW Synthetic Trainer (SAST) and Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT). The ideal candidate brings a strong background in ASW mission planning and tactical communication and will provide expert support for SCSTC curriculum development as required.

GENERAL TASK DESCRIPTION:

Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessments that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy ASW Capabilities and Limitations.
Observes and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.
Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
Supports course reviews and curriculum updates, conducts training gap analysis and provides formal feedback and recommendations for course improvement.
Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.
Demonstrated experience in modernization efforts, such as overhauling courses, authoring Standard Operating Procedures, and conducting pilot courses to guarantee curriculum effectiveness.
Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers moderately complex training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives.
Must be capable of conducting knowledge-based classroom instruction and performance/scenario-based laboratory training.
Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Five (7) years of experience as a qualified SONAR Supervisor and Acoustic Sensor Operator-S (ASO-S) on AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 combat systems suite.
Of the seven (7) years, one (1) year experience as an instructor (NEC 9502/805A) or facilitator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems is required.
Experience as a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.
Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing and integrating shipboard and shore-based embedded training systems, specifically Trainer Control Workstation (TCW), the Surface ASW Synthetic Trainer (SAST), and Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT).
Must have extensive shipboard experience executing complex fleet-level exercises and CRUDES Basic Phase Training Cycles.
Proven expertise utilizing the Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) and driving operational readiness as an active member or leader of a Combat Systems Training Team (CSTT).
A strong background in Acoustic Analysis and Target Motion Analysis.
A strong working knowledge of maintenance requirements for the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 SONAR system(s) and associated Auxiliary equipment as well as SVTT (Surface Vessel Torpedo Tubes).
Designation Letters for ASWC and SUWC a significant plus.
Hold Current Secret Clearance or able to obtain Secret Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Location: San Deigo, CA.
Travel may be required up to <5% of time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
