Job Overview

Diamond Systems is a US-based manufacturer of embedded computer boards and systems whose products are used in industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications around the world. We have an immediate opening for project buyer for our line of rugged computer systems and ethernet switches. The product line includes both standard and customer-specific designs.

This pivotal role combines strategic procurement with production planning and project management to ensure reliable supply chain operations and deliver orders on time. As a Project Buyer / Planner, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and coordinating production schedules to meet delivery deadlines and cost / quality standards. Your expertise will contribute directly to the company's increasing operational excellence and growth.

Responsibilities

Assume the role of project manager to drive all aspects of the business related to the production and delivery of rugged computer systems.
Develop and execute procurement strategies for materials and components critical to manufacturing rugged systems, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
Manage supplier relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and performance evaluation to secure reliable supply chains.
Plan and manage related inventory to ensure timely assembly and delivery of systems
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Production, Logistics, and Engineering to align activities in order to meet objectives.
Monitor logistics inventory management and inventory control systems to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing principles.
Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports on procurement status, supplier performance, and inventory metrics for management review.
Work on cost-saving, leadtime-reducing, inventory-right-sizing, and quality improvement initiatives related to the computer systems business.

Requirements

Proven experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with strong supplier management skills.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel spreadsheets.
In-depth knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, inventory management systems, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and demand planning.
Familiarity with contracts negotiation, inventory control practices, lean manufacturing principles, and production scheduling techniques.
Experience with AI tools to assist in analysis, planning, and reporting
Excellent cross-functional communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments such as engineering, production, logistics, and quality assurance.
Prior experience working in an electronics manufacturing company environment is highly preferred; familiarity with materials management and procurement processes is essential.
