Base Camp Design is a full-service interior design firm specializing in luxury residential, boutique hospitality, and select commercial projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West. Based in Sandpoint, Idaho, our team creates thoughtfully designed homes and spaces that are rooted in craftsmanship, functionality, and timeless design.
From new construction and large-scale renovations to complete furnishings and project management, we provide a true turnkey experience for our clients. The Role
We're seeking a Lead Interior Designer to join our Sandpoint studio. Working alongside our leadership team, you'll help drive the design and execution of projects from concept through completion—developing design concepts, producing drawings and specifications, coordinating vendors and contractors, and serving as a key point of contact for clients and project teams.
This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable developing beautiful interiors, managing technical details, and being actively involved on job sites throughout construction and installation.

ResponsibilitiesManagement & Supervision
- Collaborate with the leadership team on assigned projects and oversee execution alongside design assistants, purchasing staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Coordinate with builders, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules and design intent.
- Prepare finish schedules, specifications, and design documentation as required.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the design process.
Design & Drafting
- Design, specify, and document all aspects of interior design including space planning, finish selections, lighting, kitchens, bathrooms, custom millwork, built-ins, furnishings, and architectural details.
- Produce construction drawings, furniture layouts, presentation materials, and renderings as required.
- Specify furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, fabrics, flooring, wall coverings, hardware, and accessories.
- Research products, develop design concepts, and carry projects from concept through final installation with minimal supervision.
Project Management
- Review project scope, schedules, budgets, and documentation to ensure successful project execution.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal team members.
- Identify challenges early, develop solutions, and proactively manage project progress.
- Attend client meetings, job site visits, installations, and vendor appointments as required.
- Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to prepare proposals, selections, and procurement documentation.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in luxury residential design.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, custom millwork, and interior architecture.
- Experience specifying furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, textiles, and finish materials.
- Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD or Revit, Google Workspace, and Canva.
- Experience with project management software is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and client management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for project meetings and installations.
Location
This is a full-time position based in our Sandpoint, Idaho studio. Travel throughout Idaho, Montana, Washington, and surrounding regions is required for project meetings, site visits, and installations. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
